I’m not real familiar with the city. Anywhere to avoid?
The team hotel is about $300 a night and is about 20 miles north of the stadium.
It appears there are a lot more affordable hotels (if $150 a night is that) in the downtown area.
This thread has a few suggestions - Gaylord is the team hotel, but rooms are $400/night. Great Wolf Lodge would be cool if you have kids going, but they're suite only & cost about the same. If we pull the trigger we'll look downtown & maybe at the Hampton or Embassy Suites a few exits back.

I was trying to price rooms last week, since I wanted to stay near the stadium, preferably within walking distance. Many of the hotels weren't available on Friday and Saturday nights, and if they were, they weren't cheap. Then I looked at prices for Friday only, and the prices went WAY down. I guess a lot of people are planning on staying overnight before the Washington/Cowboys game...
Staying downtown. 2 BR condo via Airbnb.
Staying at the Gaylord Texan. Normally I stay at the Hilton Anatole when I’m in Dallas. It’s very nice and normally about $200 per night.
Residence Inn by Marriott - Arlington
Townhouse in Uptown. Airbnb
Super 8 by Wyndham. DFW about 6.5 from the stadium.
Wife and I staying at the Gaylord, Yeah I have a bunch of Marriott points.

I booked here as i had some Hilton Honors points plus newly built:
Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport South
Country Inn & Suites 1.5 miles from The Stockyards in Fort Worth
about 20 minutes to the stadium and only $95 a night.
LaQuinta about 2 miles from the stadium
Embassy Suites DFW North about a mile from team hotel which is where we plan to hang out, some of our group is at Gaylord
Embassy is $139 a night with AAA rate
Cambria Hotel in Southlake
Double Tree in Arlington- 2 miles from stadium.
Holiday Inn Arlington at the Ballpark
