Not to derail this, but to point #1, every team that uses UA at ODU uses this number and letter font. It's consistent across the board, I like it and don't think it should be changed











And I do not want to turn into Penn State South. Their uniforms are the most boring and plain uniforms there are

We both need a fourth game. We only have one home game. They have no away games. Oct 5 is open for both teams. Looks like a great way to start a home and home series, and if anybody has some pull to add an away game at ODU for Penn State -- it surely is Ricky Rahne.

As to a followup game in 2022, we both have the appropriate openings for a fourth OOC game, but, in addition to Liberty, that would make our OOC schedule include, VA Tech, UVA, and Penn State. Ouch -- that would take more gonads than I think we have.

Adidas or Nike would give us better uniform/fan gear options than UA.

Contract was through 2020 right? So might get your wish.

Started Sept. 1 2015 and runs through August 31, 2020.

At the time, we got one of the best contracts in the G5 from UA. So, unless Nike or Adidas offers a better contract, I'd bet we sign an extension.

Nike is also notoriously stingy from what I recollect. We got nothing but recycled template uniforms in football and basketball until we switched to UA and I think UA has done the athletic program good. As I mentioned in our previous post, they took over most sports (at least the ones that have jerseys and numbers, not including rowing or swim and dive etc) and have given us a consistent look in terms of athletic font and consistency while giving us a unique brand. We can thank Kent Bazemore for that.


Adidas has awful templates for their uniforms. Look within the conference at Rice and FIU. I hope we never go Adidas

I happen to love one-color (along with white) uniforms. Penn St. Michigan St., Oklahoma, Alabama, Colts, Jets (former), etc. But we have three colors, so it would not be appropriate here. But black is not a major color.

Then make the numbers bigger and bolder. It is brutal to watch any football broadcast when the announcers can't quickly identify the player (number).

I agree about letting the black uniforms go away. I never understood BW's love affair with that uniform.

I'm with you there. I also never hated the all-blacks but if we got those uniforms in lieu of a gray/silver or light blue alternate than the black should go. Football itself also has never used any light blue in any part of the uniform or really in the program outside of the trim on the mid-field logo of the original turf. I'd love to see it come back in future iterations of our uniforms

We're never going to satisfy everyone on the details of the uniforms.
That's fine because proving the benefits or consequences of helmet color or facemask color can't be done.

But I can certainly argue that the visibility of the numbers to the announcers, and upper deck fans, is important from a quality of viewership standpoint. The only argument against it would be that specific players are hard to identify on game film.

The worst uniform we ever had, from a visibility standpoint, were the black with blue numbers. Whoever made that decision thought the uniform looked good while standing 3 feet away. From 100 feet away it was difficult to say the least.

I would think there should be word on an extension or new uniform provider early spring. Contract ends before the first game next season. So they will need to get everything sorted out, I would think prior to summer camp starting.
