I was watching the Arkansas game last night rooting for a Western loss, because I couldnt stand to watch our blowout loss to Murray and saw Charles's injury. It looked really bad. I love to see Western lose but I dont want it to be because of a player being injured. Charles seems like a good kid and I would hate for his career to be over in college or NBA. I hope it just looked worse than what it was. Any updates on the extent of the injury?

Had an MRI this morning. As far as I know the results have not been made public yet. Best case is a hyper extension and he’s out 2-4 weeks. Worst case is ACL, PCL, etc. Would be season ending.
Ditto to the OP. If it's bad, naysayers are going to say 'see I told you he should have gone pro and gone for the bucks because you never know when an injury can occur'. Of course, injuries occur in the NBA too. Let's hope he can still play this year.

This would be the second time if that were to happen. Chris Marcus was a projected top 10 pick. Stayed in school broke his foot and it never fully healed.

If a player is ready for the NBA no matter if he has to learn on the job for a couple years. Take the money because there's nothing stopping you from getting a degree along the way.

edit: actually the 3rd time in 2003-04 Todor Pandov blew out his knee in the first or second game of the season and never fully recovered. Had a off to play for one of the top teams overseas but he wanted the NBA...projected 2nd round
say the video clip today, man it looked awful, my sympathies for the young man
clt hopes for the best!
Hearing MRI tomorrow, but would be a miracle at this point for good news...Was a burtal injury...Happened in front of me and he was yelling and crying...That usually does not happen for a mild hyperextending knee...This could be a 2 year injury and even then probably knee brace rest of career...He had issues with his knee last season...
Last time I saw anything close to the direction of the bend in Bassey's leg on a basketball court, it ended up being an ACL-PCL combo. Best wishes to him for as quick a recovery as possible.
Out for the season. Damnit

For someone his size, its going to be a long hard rehab in which he may never be the same...He wasn't exactly quick of feet before but this might be a 2 year rehab in which he continues to have issues...So sad to say the least...

Besides waiting on NCAA every year for transfers we have not had a lot of injuries, I guess WKU was due for something to happen, a shame it happened to Charles...
Sorry to hear that. Never want to see a kid get hurt.
It really sucks for Bassey. I hope that he can eventually make a full recovery and enjoy a pro career.

The Toppers are going to have to reinvent themselves going forward. We lack size/depth in the post now. Going to have to start playing a 4 guard lineup and maybe look to score more in transition. The guys really responded at the end of the Arkansas game and in OT. Need to build off of that.
Really sucks to hear to be completely honest.
Nothing official from the school just yet, only leaked rumors. My gut says if its the same hyperextension injury he had last year and its only a 2 week rehab, he comes back this season. If its longer than a month on the sidelines, his handlers will shut him down and start focusing on the draft. My thinking is the injury isn't outrageously serious and Stanz is working the Bassey camp like a mad man pleading with them to let him play again this season. Would explain the delayed announcement. Again, just speculation.
Just made official by the school.

Tibial plateau fracture. Season-ending surgery. 6-9 months of recovery.

What injury last season? No way in hell he had same injury that just occurred Saturday! I mean did you see the video that combined with him screaming and crying live on court, its pretty easy to see this is a major knee injury....Use your eyes and head.....This season!, I am worried about two years from now for the young man...
No speculation involved to see this was a very serious injury...Wow broken leg, in the end might be better to recover from than knee damage, although mentally going to be tough on him...

Hey moron, last year he hyperextended his knee at UAB and it looked very similar on TV. I thought he was done for the year watching that one live last season. I was hoping it would be the same injury but obviously that didn't happen. And yea I watched it happen, I was 4 rows up about 15 feet away from him.

No need for name calling, I saw last season too and it was nowhere near the same...I was too close to him, the screaming and crying told me this was a different injury...
