So it looks like this may be the guy. I’ve never heard of him, but he’s from Penn State and has some SEC connections I guess. What are your thoughts?

The donor begging meeting on Thursday must have gone poorly.

Interest...my thoughts exactly. I am not sure Beamer was ever in consideration and likely not anyone else on the list.
Never change ODU fans, never change.
His reputation precedes him. There's a reason he didn't know.
The folks who sometimes share tidbits with me have not been as forthcoming this time as on other occasions and the name we are now hearing was not mentioned in the original 3 names I was told. That said (and with advised caution as I say it) I hear the Big Donor meeting went very well. That fact helped land our new coach and will allow for better staffing and pay for Assist. Coaches. I sincerely hope that $$$ part is true.
If true, I’m underwhelmed but will certainly give him a chance and hope for the best. If the guy fails, this ones on Wood. Here’s to a new era.

I'm in the same spot.
I'm certainly no wellspring of optimism but I will withhold judgment until I see how the team functions under his command. Righting the ship and getting back to 6-6 is respectability goal #1 and I hope that it doesn't take long.

Hope, ladies and gents. Hope. It has been a long, frustrating time since I could say that word without sarcasm.
James Franklin, at Penn State, seems like a really good coach, and they just extended his contract. He's brought Rahne with him to PSU when he got the job and gave him the OC role. Unless we think that Franklin can't coach and decided to hamstring his own team, I'm heading into this with an open mind.

We need a change. I'll admit I know little to nothing about a guy that was an offensive coordinator at a school I don't follow. We didn't want a "friend of Wood". We got a young coordinator from a big time school. This is his shot to see if he can coach. Let's give him that shot.
The guy was making over 600,000 as OC at Penn State. It took a considerable offer to get him. I think it is safe to say our big $$ donors stepped up to the plateI'm excited. Just what we've been asking for. An experienced but still young successful coordinator from a very good P5 program. If he can surround himself with recruiters, I think the future looks promising.
Frankly, I'm excited to get an OC from a school like Penn State

I certainly wasn’t there, but I’ve heard it went really well and the big money stepped up and that will play out. We’ll know pretty quickly when we see HCRR salary and the pool for assistants.

If true, we’re hiring an OC from one of the top football programs in the country. What more do we want?

Someone changed it last night and it got changed back right after so I wouldn’t use that as the confirmation.
Isn't Penn State ranked #10 currently? Shane Beamer has never called an offensive play in college. This guy has coached offense in big time Bowl games.
Wtf did some of you expect?
I certainly didn't expect a ivy league (smart) QB (who still holds ivy league records) and is the OC of the 10 ranked team in the country.

That’s what I was thinking. Other than not being named Beamer, I think Rahne might have the better pedigree.

LOL. I started a reply that said other than not being named Saban or Beamer, what more do y'all want? Dude checks a ton of boxes.
