I figured we could use a thread dedicated to attendance numbers. If anyone wants to post the attendance at games do so here. It will be easy to get averages if we have the numbers in one spot.
Football Home Attendance:

Syracuse - 21,671
Buffalo - 14,584
Hampton - 18,944
New Mexico - 17,101
Maine - 18,657
New Mexico State - 18,674

I'm thinking they were inconsistent about how they tracked these numbers, because there definitely were not 18,674 people in stadium for NMSU, meaning they probably went with ticket sales.

If they had used ticket sales for all the games, we'd have a much higher average this season than 18,271.
They always go by tickets sold.

Not butts in seats.

Same as everyone else does.

I think that’s garbage. We should always fo by butts in seats. It’s honest, transparent, a most accurate.

I don't think butts in seats is more transparent. It's just different. Giving away a bunch of free tickets to boost attendance numbers isn't any more noble than counting tickets that people paid actual money for.

Giving away free tickets for years is another reason why folks do not come to games now that they're fees. We need to change that mentality if free things and win lots of games. I hope Freeze takes the extended contract, get better recruitsvand more wins and bowls opportunity, and most importantly, enjoy the growth he's bringing in (plus comfort of family) which will make him a legend on campus plus the region.
Giving away tickets should be VERY rare. It should be so rare that if you get a free ticket you go 100% of the time. I think butts in seats would be a nice thing to do but unfortunately we aren’t there and would put the 15,000 minimum in risk.
It’s true. We are what we are. Imagine if we didn’t have the incredible student support that we do. Our attendance would be atrocious.

Hopefully consistent winning and bowl success will generate more fan interest.

We have a pretty good game day atmosphere. I am happy with concessions. Spirit of the Mountain marching band is outstanding! Love the dotting of the “i” in Liberty. The dude that spits flames is awesome. All the pyro (flames and fireworks) is great.

The team entrance needs a lot of work.

Maybe more team outreach to the community would build interest. Maybe having big postgame concerts would help.

Maybe it just takes time.

The Band needs work; they don't have it as difficult like other bands who have to learn a few shows for a season. Maybe that's just me because I was in marching band; I would say that it could be worse. All that was mentioned in your post will grow when we started winning big and improving the schedules in the upcoming seasons.
We are a young school so we don't have generations of graduates that spent their time on campus going to football games which should improve slowly as time goes on. Increasing the number of on campus students will hurry it up as will good performance of the team.
