Head did and used it for leverage against ODU to get more $. It was widely known. So I take his comments of always being a Monarch with a grain of salt.
Interesting. The article states Wilder applied for the FAU job back in 2016 post Bahamas Bowl. We had only one bad season and that was in 2015. During this time, it really looks like ODU football is rolling. We all know what happened after 2016...

It's highly possible.

Would Wilder really defect away from ODU? For the right price, yes.

This is where I'm a little naive. I actually bought his emotion during his departure press conference. I didn't know anything about the FAU thing. He just sucked the past 3 seasons and probably won't get another D1 HC position. Of course under these circumstances, he'll always be a Monarch - if it were 2016, he would have left ODU faster than you can say Kornbleu!

Good job ODU for getting rid of this snake!

Total B.S. in my opinion.
In his presser he said he wanted to be on a beach somewhere warm. Hmm
Wow. First Ive heard of this. I had only heard of the Temple gig. So BW was going to leave "his baby" for an in conference opponent?! And actually agreed to the job?!! Yeah, that does make me feel a little differently about him and his "loyalty". I realize FAU could pay more, but don't act like you'd never leave yada yada yada. Sadly, this does change my perception a little. I felt sorry for BW and hated to see him go even though it was needed. This changes that a little because it makes me question whether all of his talk was legit.
I merged the two threads.
