Following their familiar pattern, Temple won the Davidson game by dint of strong defensive play, holding the Wildcats to a FG% of .360 and a FG3% of .240, despite hitting a modest 43.5% of their two point shots, combined with a respectable .333 FG3%.
Temple out-rebounded Davidon 38-27, and led them in assists (19-10) and steals (7-3). However, Temple turned the ball over 13 times and had only 2 blocks, compared with 6 by Davidson.

Justyn Hamilton (6'10") scored 6 pts on 3-5 shooting, but had 0 rebounds, ast, blk, or stls in 15 minutes of play.

JPL did not play, with some reports suggesting that he had a hand injury vs Texas A&M, and that he will be day to day.
Encouraging signs:
After a very slow start in games 1-4, Q Rose has amply demonstrated in games 5-7 his ability to play like a first-team preseason all-conference player.
--Suddenly, Rose is proving his ability to be an outstanding play-maker, while reducing his # of low percentage shots and cutting down on his TOs. Rose has been Temple's assist leader in games 5-7, with some spectacular passes.
Rose also contributed 11 rebounds, which is close to his career-high. The team could really benefit if he can boost his season average rebounding from ~3.5 to 5 or 6+ rpg.
--If he can continue to play at this level, the Owls are likely to be a strong contender for an at-large NCAA bid, with a reasonable chance to get a "first four" bye.
Nate's productivity improved today, after some earlier subpar play in Orlando. The team will need him to perform as consistently well as possible going forward.
Jake Forrester, coming in off the bench, has become a true impact player for this team in his first three games, given Damion Moore's injured status and Hamilton's problematic interior play in Orlando.
--Forrester's energy and quickness as an interior defender and rebounding has been particularly vital to the team, but he also showed considerable scoring prowess, scoring 10 pts on 5-8 (62.5%) shooting.
--Radio announcer John Baum was severely critical of Hamilton's lack of defensive effort, becoming nearly apoplectic at one point when JH apparently made no effort of any kind to stop Davidson's big man from scoring, despite being in position to contest the shot.
--If Hamilton's play doesn't improve sufficiently, Forrester - - who played 16 minutes, compared to Hamilton's 15 minutes - - may begin to do so on a more regular basis, and he may be able to give Coach McKie a feasible alternative to starting Hamilton alongside JP Moorman, at least until Damion Moore (hopefully) returns.

Overall, Temple's prospects for the season have improved considerably, as evidenced by their impressive play vs Maryland, marked improvements by Rose, Scott, and A. Moore (with the exception of AM's game 7), and the overnight transformation of Jake Forrester from a redshirted transfer to a vitally needed player in the 5 position.
Coach McKie has done an absolutely brilliant job of preparing this Temple team and has also been a surprisingly good game coach on the sidelines, in comparison to most first-time Head Coaches. At this early point in the season, he would seem to be a potentially strong candidate for the AAC Coach of the Year in his first season as a HC.
