The 2nd part of our FB/MBB doubleheader.

Keys to victory:

EMU needs to come to play. This team is new and hungry and I'm sure they will play hard. Doubt they take anything or any opponent for granted.

For Goshen, I don't know. They will need to defend the FT, better than Sienna Heights. 03-rotfl
SH's free throw defense was weak allowing EMU to make 20 - 24 FTs. 03-lmfao

Seriously, I haven't read one comment but all of the EMU newcomers, combined, did not miss a single FT Friday in their first games...

Goshen will need to defend the trey better than SH. EMU shot 50% behind the arc Friday despite the line being moved to the international distance.

Should be interesting to see if EMU shoots the FT and trey well tonight. We haven't always shot them well, even against sub-par opponents.
Murphy mentioned in the post game that these guys shoot a lot of threes, so it’ll be another test for the new players to properly execute the zone.

They did lose to Siena Heights already, so I don’t think it’ll be much of a battle. Play the same quality of basketball we played on Friday, and come out of it injury free.

And it makes sense. Undermanned, undersized teams have to rely on the three. No way do they match up with the likes of Toure', JT4, etc. and other big guys we've had come through the Convo.

and play the walk-ons. Ballard got minutes Friday.

I want to see our threes and FTs. As I indicated, we were 11 - 11 other than Toure' and Groce. I want to see if that was a fluke or if we have players who can shoot 75 - 80% from the FT line.

Likewise, one to see if Chris James' 3-ball shooting was indicative or a 'one game wonder.'
Looking at their roster, it seems like 6'7 is their tallest player. It would be great to see Toure dominate and King to play superb again
I want to see Montero improve from Friday. He tried to do a bit too much and forced shots when he didn’t need to. You can see energy and passion (especially defensively), and Murphy raves about his outside shooting. Just needs to rein it in a bit.
BTW, I count 16 players on the roster so I'd assume 13 scholarship + 3 walk-on.
Yes, but who are the walkons? I posed this question on another thread but no responses. And I am so curious. My assumption is the following are the walkons:
Gibbs
Peterson
Ballard

Also, I if the injury report from others are correct, Gibson is out the year and a Binelli is out 3-4 weeks. So only 14 players available for tonight’s game.

Yes. All three are from the Detroit area.

Murphy always likes to give locals the chance to walk on.
Ice cold start, but I’ve been impressed by Chris Barnes. Had nice vision on a pass to Toure, and stepped confidently into a 3.
After a cold start EMU is showing well.

Groce just hit a trey.

Ryan and Chad are doing a great job. Work very well together.
They do work very well together! I think they've the new roster down now! Why hasn't James played yet?
Wow. DEEP 3 from Montero.
Montero is the key to this teams success! He has 1st team MAC ability! He can simply fill it up!

He had two great passes to King for easy layups/dunks. Seems like he’s playing with more controlled aggression tonight. I’m very impressed.
Slowly learning these players. Glad Morgan has long hair. Easier to recognize.
Man. Morgan can stroke it too.

I think we have some real shooting ability with this team.
Murphy can recruit!!!!!!! That's not the issue!!!!! Is this the best group of shooters in the Murphy era?
Just suffocating them defensively with that press. Their guards aren’t fast enough to break it and our bigs are playing safety on the passes. Very impressed with all of the guards on the defensive end. They work their asses off.

Yes, they do play well as a team. Very impressive.
Big negative in the 1st half, 11-26 from the line! We missed 15 FT........
