Full Version: Is there a reason PSU-Minn is at noon on ABC and Clemson-NCST is on at 7:30 on ABC ?

Seems to me you would want a premiere matchup of 2 8-0 Power 5 schools to be on in prime time and the rather pedestrian matchup of 8-0 Clemson vs. 4-4 NCST on at noon.

Is ESPN/ABC contractually obligated to put a certain number of ACC games on in Prime time on ABC? That's the only way this lineup makes any sense.

Deliberate choice by Minnesota and/or Penn State. Minn head coach intimated that Penn St was asked to move it to an afternoon or evening game and refused, other sources claim the decision rests solely in the hands of the home team(Minn). It all came up when Fleck was campaigning for this week's ESPN College GameDay a couple weeks back.

Heard from a PSU fan that the AD from Minnesota did not want to play a night game. Don't know if weather was a factor.
I feel like a night game in MN would be brutal

Temperatures in Raleigh at game time should be 36 headed down to below freezing later tonight.
Remember when night games were special?
Minnesota actually wanted the game at night, it was Penn State who exercised the SuperVeto.

They barely sold out a 11AM kickoff. Given 12 days and a night November game, they'd still be trying to sell seats as I type.
Considering the decisions for kickoff are made weeks rather than months now beforehand, if PSU threw a fit, bravo.

It’s a different kind of conditioning altogether for that kind of cold endurance test. Just because networks might like it doesn’t make it smart for all involved.

Night games have to be >45 degrees to “break-even”, imo. Below 45 with no sun heat is miserable.
