How's the women's team looking? I know the preseason rankings weren't kind to them.

You may have bought a $200 ticket to the Titanic.

That's unpossible. You have to create the Titanic, first.
UC Riverside 66
Nebraska 47

Ouch.
Davenport University 82
Grand Canyon 73

Davenport never trailed in this game.

Eastern Washington...seemed like they pumped the brakes on Portland Bible a bit late. Portland Bible scoring two points over a 12+ minute span, to EWU’s nearly 40.

Davenport just moved to D2 in recent years after adding football. They might be the first Michigan D2 school to have the balls to move D1.

Nebraska has a completely new roster apart from one player. It shouldn't be that surprising when you consider that no one on that team's played a meaningful game of basketball with anyone else on it.
Penn defeats Alabama 81-80!

Can the Ivy League get TWO bids this season??
I'm sorry, call me a fuddyduddy, but college hoops before Thanksgiving seems absurd to me, just isn't right.

And I won't pay attention to anyone but Georgetown before January anyway, LOL. This is football season.

some of the best basketball of the season is in the next 4 weeks. Got the Champions Classic last night, got the Gavitt games next week, and then just about all of the exempt tournaments. And capped off by the ACC/Big Ten challenge. Other cool things as well- like Friday night when there's the double header at the Naval Academy.

And these games are so critical for the season. You can't get in the tourney now, but you sure as hell can put yourself behind the 8 ball.

No question, TV hungers for more college hoops and so we have it - lots of manufactured "classics" and the like featuring matchups of top teams, big OOC games, all of that, and yes, especially because they are OOC, these games will resonate in RPI and other computer calculations all season long up until Selection Sunday. They are by no means meaningless.

I just wish it was happening in December. Too soon for college hoops in my book.
If you could redo the calendar, December thru April for hoops would be ideal. Cuts that April-August dead zone from 5 months to 4. But March Madness was too successful for it to ever happen.

Early season games are important for potential bubble teams -- e.g., in March, Saint Mary's might be pointing back to last night's win over Wisconsin. Not quite as important for teams like the four that played at MSG last night. All of them are going to have good seeds in the tournament unless things completely fall apart for them later in the season.

South Carolina definitely found that out last year by starting 4-7. Yikes.

I found myself looking over the A10's overall performance last night. 8-2. A strong night they haven't seen in some years, even if the quality opponents weren't all there. Wins against bad teams don't help much, but are better than losing to them.

If Penn can keep itself healthy, grab the Big Five again, and winning the Ivy regular season handily but tripping up in their tournament? Puncher's chance, though, SOS in the Ivy is usually a big drag on the metrics.
