Cross-divisional games should not be played the last two weeks of the regular season for obvious reasons. Will be weird if we end up playing Cincy back to back weeks. Hope the conference changes this in the future.
Meh.

Play 'em when you play 'em.

The Schedule quirk is we got lucky

Every good team has come to Memphis and NO UCF

SMU, NAVY and CINCI all at home. The scheduling gods have smiled on us.

I concur.

There will be no divisions next year.

03-lmfao

Yeah, there is that to consider.

I do agree with this. Not sure what the league was thinking when they scheduled two potential division winners in the last week of the season. Tulane, Navy, SMU...any of them would have been fun on Black Friday.

BUT.....like someone else said...play 'em when you play 'em. We'll just have to beat Cincy's ass on back to back weeks.

You might think that in a snapshot, but we caught UCF with their two best teams ever and missed them when they had losing records and even this year they are a little down and we miss them. It is nobody's fault but we did not get lucky with UCF scheduling over the last few years.
Yeah, it was an amateur move - especially since Memphis and Cincy were both expected to battle for division titles this year. If you have to do an interdivisional the last week, do UConn and Tulsa.

Oh I completely agree...

This is unusual that we got a favorable schedule.

Heck I remember we had to go to Temple 2 years in a row (14 & 15)
I like the opportunity to play ranked teams late in the season.

That's fine, just don't put cross division teams in the final game of the season.

Makes you wonder; if both teams have clinched their divisions; and Memphis and Cincy are the highest ranked Group of 5 teams by far; do you play to win the last game, or not show them anything and leave it all out in the Championship game ???

Not very likely since the winner of the last regular season game would get home field in the AAC title game.
what a beautiful pic of our BB team...
Hadn't seen that yet.

Lol...This aint the NFL.

If teams go 1-1 in those contests it is possible that both get left out of the Cotton bowl...

Not very likely since the winner of the last regular season game would LIKELY get home field in the AAC title game.

FYP
Still quite a few scenarios.
But, yeah, playing for home field is the most likely scenario at this point.

Basically both teams have to win out until the finale in order to be guaranteed that they will both play the following week. Memphis is likely playing for home field or bust.

Memphis, if either SMU or Navy win out, will have to run the table to go to the AAC title game.

UC will likely have to win out also if they want to lose to Memphis then get another crack at Memphis the following week.
Just looked over remaining schedules for everyone. Using Sagarin for the lines, Memphis and Navy would both run the table and finish with 7 AAC wins each. We hold the tiebreaker over Navy, so we get the West.

The West is a 3-team race and we're the only one who controls our own destiny. Navy-SMU game will eliminate one of them from contention. Then it's up to whomever is left to run the table and hope we drop one.

Likewise Cincy and UCF would each finish with 7 wins. Cincy holds the tiebreaker over UCF, so they get the East. The East is a 2-team race. UCF needs to run the table and have Cincy drop 2 games.

We hold the tiebreaker over Cincy, so we get the CCG.

Nothing to it.
