With several national prominent sports writers acknowledging there will be a shortage of P5 teams while a possible surplus of G5 teams here’s the breakdown after week 10. There’s 39 bowl games with the championship game being 40 so there’s 78 teams that can go to a bowl. To my knowledge there are no teams serving a bowl ban that I know of but if so please post so I can adjust. Teams “in play” are those with less than 6 wins AND less than 7 losses”

ACC - 4 in, 10 in play, 0 eliminated
Big 10 - 7 in, 5 in play, 2 eliminated
Big 12 - 4 in, 6 in play, 0 eliminated
Pac 12 - 2 in, 10 in play, 0 eliminated
SEC - 6 in, 6 in play, 1 eliminated, Missouri bowl ban
AAC - 6 in, 3 in play, 3 eliminated
CUSA - 4 in, 7 in play, 3 eliminated
MAC - 1 in, 10 in play, 1 eliminated
MWC - 4 in, 6 in play, 2 eliminated
Sun Belt - 3 in, 6 in play, 1 eliminated
Indy - 2 in, 2 in play, 2 eliminated.

So by my best count there’s 43 teams eligible for 77 spots with 71 teams still in play. A lot of those “in play” teams will be eliminated in the next 2 weeks as quite a few 6 loss teams play each other or play a ranked team
Mizzou is banned I believe

Forgot about them and now that I’ve googled a few articles most seem to think it will be lifted by season’s end. I’ll edit and put them on the outside until it gets resolved.
Keeping Missouri on the outside, 79 teams would be eligible at season's end using Sagarin Predictor results to play out the season.

AAC 7, ACC 8, Big 12 7, Big Ten 9, C-USA 8, Indy 3, MAC 8, MWC 8, Pac 12 7, SEC 8, SBC 6.

Liberty is eligible to be selected for a bowl game this season. It was in its FBS transition season last year and is a full FBS member this season. It has a secondary tie-in to the Cure Bowl.

Thanks for the Liberty information. I’ll make the change now
Ole Miss would need to beat LSU AND MSU, and MSU would also need to beat Alabama in order for both to go bowling. I get that neither team is “officially” eliminated, but there is a much better chance that neither go bowling than that both go.

Using the Sagarin Predictor results, Ole Miss would be 4-7 when it travels to Starkvegas to play 5-6 Mississippi State. MSU is a 5.66 favorite in that game right now.

If only some of the bowl prediction gurus would take time to look at games remaining and at expected results.

There’s quite a few that could be eliminated but letting the games play out. Just a small sampling from each P5 conference

Vanderbilt (2-6) - at Florida, Kentucky , at Tennessee
Kansas (3-6) - at Ok St, at Iowa St, Baylor
Maryland (3-6) - at Ohio St, Nebraska, at Michigan St
Purdue (3-6) - at Northwestern, at Wisconsin, Indiana
Colorado (3-6) - Stanford, Washington, at Utah
Georgia Tech (2-6) - at Virginia, VT, NC State, Georgia
Here are the eliminated.
I’ve got 16 with no chance to bowl including Missouri and ECU (who has two win against FCS school). Virginia Tech will also have to win seven games due to two wins against FCS opponents.

Umass, NMSU, Akron, UConn, Tulsa, ECU, Arkansas, Missouri, Rutgers, Northwestern, UNLV, New Mexico, South Alabama, ODU, Rice, and UTEP
Surely Mike Houston will find a way to blame ECU's elimination on being too honest in his interesting in the Charlotte job.

I’ve been hearing Mizzou’s bowl-ban would be kept in place for this season. But we shall see.

He inherited a sh¡t-show. Will take a year or two to clean up the mess.

True.

Will be very funny to me if they finish 6-6 and have to sit home. Vag. Tech could’ve had an easy W @ECU this season but they chose to cancel that game in late December and had to get a second FCS opponent as the fill-in. That may come back to bite them.

He is a ****-show, as a person. Hope his parents are getting to see him more now that he lives 15 miles closer to them. 07-coffee3

ECU now changed to "eliminated" as they are 3-6 so even if they win their last 3 they would still have just 5 eligible wins due to the 2 FCS wins.

Screw them, also their attendance was pitiful looking to have a ranked Cinci playing on national TV.

LOL. Jealousy looks good on you.
If Charlotte gets bowl eligible, looks like there is a chance we could get into the Belk bowl. That would be huge for us.
I predict CUSA will have 8 bowl eligible teams at the end of the year:

Marshall (already)
FAU (already)
UAB (already)
LT (already)
USM (currently 5-3 w/ remaining games vs. 4 remaining games)
WKU, UNCC, and UNT will all finish 6-6

Left out:
FIU
MTSU
ODU
UTSA
UTEP
Rice

Speaking for this Charlotte fan, I am extremely happy with our new coach and there is not one iota of jealousy for Houston. We'll see if we have more luck getting to bowl eligibility than him.
