BYU
It’s finally here. Half of the dream is realized. Notre Dame you’re next.
I am hoping we play BYU close, and I think we can.
Too much to handle. They run it down our throats all day.

BYU 49
Liberty 17
I don't feel too good about this one after watching their game with Utah State. Their main starting QB is still out, but there doesn't seem to be a drop off with either backup they've played.

My season prediction is that our team would improve a lot towards the later half of the season, at least offensively. In part because buckshot has been slow to pick some stuff up, freeze being out, etc., But, it seems like our offense is clicking the last three games, even if you try to adjust it for competition.

Statistically, BYU still ranks 91st for total defense and folded in some games they shouldn't have. I really have no idea if we can keep it close. I'm pretty sure we won't win on defense, but I think we'll get more stops than at Rutgers. Question is whether our offense can be lights out efficient.

We haven’t done well against decent defenses. When looking at their stats it’s important to remember that they have played Washington, Utah, Boise St and Tennessee (2-2 against those 4) They are also better at home it seems.
42 - The Angel Moroni
27 - Spirit of Falwell

Had this game as a loss preseason and still think that is the case.

Right, but the story of BYU is that they are also 2-2 against un-ranked teams, so it leaves a question of consistency. Their four worst games, in terms of yards given up, was also against the four worst teams on their schedule.

Regarding our offense, I don't think that's true. Not because we've done well, but because we haven't really played against a lot of good defenses. Statistically, the best defensive team we played is buffalo, ranked 15th in total defense, and that was one of our best games. Louisiana is ranked 38th, but then everyone else is ranked 98th or higher. That includes Syracuse at 115 and Rutgers at 98. I still think our showing at Rutgers is the best sign of improvement between our first six games and the last 3.

Defense will determine this game. Both teams have offenses ready to explode, but both have highly inconsistent defenses. This could feel a lot like the game against New Mexico last year. Hopefully the end result is the same.

Won't be shocked if the combined score exceeds 120.

Yeah, our D relies heavily on turnovers. Worries me that you guys don't seem to turn the ball over. I miss Bronco Mendenall's stingy defenses. You'll see what I mean on the 16th.

Always grateful when any team is willing to come to Provo in November. That's life as an independent. But I love that I'm expecting a tough game this time of year. We've gotten a few November PAC teams because of the imbalance caused by USC/Stanford scheduling ND in November. That, coupled with a rapidly rising Liberty, could make Novembers really fun.

It's great to see a BYU fan on our forum; welcome! I hope that we will play you guys more often in future schedules and establish a nice little rivalry!

The game is on ESPNU so we'll get some national coverage.

I don't expect to win but BYU has played down to some competition this year so we may catch them on an off week and pull off an upset.

If we do then we need to pay HCHF as soon as the game is over. Start working the extension in the fourth quarter.
I had hoped this would have moved up to ESPN2. Since it is the Holy War
What a fast start.

It is still early but this game is reminding me of the RU game. The D can't make a stop while the O is doing okay.
