Showing maybe some improved perimeter shooting tonight.

Don't think Jude has been in yet which is a little surprising.
Can we actually score and hit free throws?
Ended the night 29.6% from 3. Sigh.

Better than the first two regular season games last year, when we went 17.4% against Mercer and 26.7% against New Orleans. Not sure about last season’s exhibition game.
According to numbers provided by the NCAA, the average number of 3-point shots attempted has grown from 9.2 in 1987 — the first year the 3-point arc was installed — to 21.9 in 2018, which is an all-time high.

While college basketball teams averaged an all-time-best 7.7 3-pointers in 2018, the average percentage made of 35.2 trails the all-time high of 38.4 percent in 1987.
What was the score?

Edit: Nevermind, 78-61 UAB apparently.
A D2 opponent and Jude plays 6 minutes, 0-2 fg 0-2 ft 4 fouls.

At least he is able to run up and down the court this year.
Lord there was a game last night? Was there at least a 1000 fans at the game?
yes if you count the band, concessions, security, media and people walking by the arena before/during/after the game.
Jude was a disappointment somewhat. In his defense, he graduated high school, got redshirted and now he is available for minutes. he has a lot to learn at the D-1 level.

I was shocked at how scrappy Jalen Benjamin is. He could turn out to be a quality player. he played alot at PG when he and Scootie were on the floor together.

Kasim Nicholson has long arms and has some speed and hops. I liked Jahien Spencer too. Both these guys hits 3's I think too.
Why Brinson and Hurtado didn’t get any burn last night? Must have been a rough night for Superman if he’s not the leading guy.
On the bright side, Luis' mother posted this (in Spanish) on her GoFundMe account and closed it out after they raised $7600 for his cancer treatment:

"Thank you for so much support! After a long and difficult chemotherapy treatment, Luis recovers successfully. I expect so much help and affection will be given back to them..."

04-cheers to his family and I pray that he will live the rest of his life cancer-free.

All the rationalizing of Jude's red shirt last year was BS. He got redshirted because when he showed up he wasn't close to being a D1 player. After getting 6 minutes vs a D2 last night it looks like that is still in question. The baseball player got more minutes.

We had a couple of nice flurries from outside last night. Helped us push the lead out but then we would go cold again. I have no expectations of becoming a good perimeter shooting team with this group. I just hope we move up to "streaky" from "bricklaying".
boxscore says 2,300+ in attendance (yeah, im sure thats inflated)

Butler with 6 offensive rebounds and 11 points in just 16 minutes. wow

This season is going to come down to perimeter shooting IMO. If we are able to be significantly improved from 3, our team will be significantly improved. If not, then we'll be about where we were last year. Pretty athletic and dangerous at times but not consistent enough to be a real threat.
Hurtado was around for early warm ups then left and came back in sweats....

It was awesome to see Aaron Johnson behind the bench....

I think Jude can develop. He has decent hands and is fast moving side to side but his jumping is super slow and would have problems with a thinner tall guy especially on the help side...probably get rejected a lot.

Butler was super pumped up when in game. Couple of "And 1s" and shadow boxed and yelled.

Jude yells a lot...not sure what that is all about. even in warm-ups...it might be mimicking the new pre-game hype video....
Morehouse looked an ACC team when they went zone. Our bad outside shooting is going to force the zone all year..

we would probably lose by 75 points to Syracuse.
