The Redhawks visit Dix Stadium this Saturday to take on the Flashes in a pivotal game. One team will stay tied for first in the East at 3-1 while the other will slip to 2-2 and 3-5 overall. As of Tuesday, we are 2.5-point favorites.
In conference play, Miami is averaging 107 yards rushing per game. Our achilles heel so far has been stopping the run, and we should have an easier time this week than we did with Ohio.
Freshman Quarterback Brett Gabbert has played well at times. Overall he's completing just 55% of his passes and has more INTs than TDs. His favorite target is WR Jalen Walker. (Side bet - how long into the game before the announcers make a Jaylin Walker joke?).
Looking over the Redhawks' profile, they should feel fortunate to be at 2-1 because on paper they aren't impressive. But as Kenny Mayne used to say, "We all know that games aren't played on paper…they are played by little men inside our TV sets".
If we do just an adequate job containing Miami's weak run game, we can force Gabbert to make mistakes. We should rush for 250+ yards and win this game by double digits.
