The Redhawks visit Dix Stadium this Saturday to take on the Flashes in a pivotal game. One team will stay tied for first in the East at 3-1 while the other will slip to 2-2 and 3-5 overall. As of Tuesday, we are 2.5-point favorites.

In conference play, Miami is averaging 107 yards rushing per game. Our achilles heel so far has been stopping the run, and we should have an easier time this week than we did with Ohio.

Freshman Quarterback Brett Gabbert has played well at times. Overall he's completing just 55% of his passes and has more INTs than TDs. His favorite target is WR Jalen Walker. (Side bet - how long into the game before the announcers make a Jaylin Walker joke?).

Looking over the Redhawks' profile, they should feel fortunate to be at 2-1 because on paper they aren't impressive. But as Kenny Mayne used to say, "We all know that games aren't played on paper…they are played by little men inside our TV sets".

If we do just an adequate job containing Miami's weak run game, we can force Gabbert to make mistakes. We should rush for 250+ yards and win this game by double digits.

HUGE game sat.

VERY WORRIED about our defense..
question: is it just a lack of talent issue, or can we learn & grow from the OU debacle?

The D certainly struggled Saturday, but in fairness, OU's QB is certainly the best QB in the MAC. He's experienced, poised, very accurate, and reads coverages well. He was impressive. We won't see a QB as good in the next five games. That's not to excuse our defensive shortcomings. The D has some developing to do.
The DL needs to get off of their blocks and get pressure on the Miami QB this Saturday. They didn't do that for most of the OU game and that lead to Rourke throwing for a career high. I think the defense has talent, but they need to get more pressure on the QB and force more turnovers.

This will really tell you where the program is, as they got their redshirt senior NT and LT back for the OU game and the only real injury is 1 of the backup RB's (Bangda).

Only Buffalo has rushed for over 250 yards against Miami this year, and that was including an 82 yard touchdown. They had 89 yards passing. I'm not saying it won't happen. I just don't see it. Looking forward to an exciting game.

98% chance of rain. Build the dome!
We look awful so far.
These technical difficulties are really annoying. ESPN needs to get their stuff together.

+1
The actual game has been equally frustrating.
Is the audio out of sync for everyone else as well? Really annoying to get to hear the result of the play a second or two before you see it.
Our DL and LBers are very weak. We are being pushed around at will. This has to be an area of recruiting concern. Hard to watch.
Our O line is getting pushed around badly too. Getting dominated in the trenches on both sides is a pretty bad formula for success.
This game has Haynes era watchability.
We need to scrap every play that isn't a quick pass. Miami is in the back field before we even finish a play fake.
It's a Haynes Era score as well. I don't know how Crum is still able to walk with the hits he has taken.
On the bright side of things Akron is getting drilled 49-0 to NIU.
We can't even block for FG attempts. Please find 5 grad transfers on the O Line next year.
