Thanks for pointing that out.

Another Successful NIU coach during the regular season whom Bowl success has eluded!

Unsuccessful coaches during the regular season do not have to worry about losing bowl games!

He is 35-29; ACC conference 24-16 Bowl games 0-3.

His 5th season at Pitt and his 4th Bowl game will be on Thursday against EMU.

Let's get back on subject.

Rod and Temple - seems unlikely he will snap his bowl streak. He's going up against an improved NC squad, with a superior coach at the helm.

Fleck and Minny - he's crazy enough to pull of the impossible. I see him winning this one in a surprise to everyone and kicking off the foundation for next year's Row the Boat squad.

Sam Pittman and Arkansas - interesting hire. I wonder how it will work out. Not too much background to work with. But hope he does well.

The American is probably much stronger than the ACC(except for Clemson).
Temple (American) is 8-4 ; 5-3 ranked teams 2-2
North Carolina (ACC) is 6-6; 4-5 ranked teams 0-2 Clemson, App.State

Temple better :
1) overall record
2) conference
3) conference record
4) schedule
5) ranked record

Temple is a great bet.

Coaches bowl record of previous years should not outweigh these 5 reasons.

Agree that should not be taken lightly.

They lost to Clemson 20-21!! An excellent performance that is noteworthy.
Their other loss to ranked App State by only 3 points.

They lost some very close games all to good Bowl teams.

Two of these games went to a combined 7 overtimes.

If Temple can keep it close, they have a good chance of winning.
Correction : (Tomorrow) At 11:00am Temple from the American Conference plays North Carolina from the ACC in another G5 vs P5 matchup. Both teams performed well against good teams with NC being more consistent despite ending up with a 6-6 record. Temple had a better win/loss ratio but had two blowout losses.

North Carolina are 4.5 point favorites and are expected to win.
Will this game be the revenge of the ACC ?

In a year where Buffalo and Kent scored their first bowl wins, Temple's coach can end the bowl losing streak this year with another close victory.

Later on at 7pm former NIU assistant coach Pat Narduzzi who coaches Pittsburgh, is a heavy favorite against Eastern Michigan.
Eastern Michigan leading Pittsburgh 3-0, after 5 min. 1st Quarter.
EMU TD, leads 10-0. 1st Q 6:16

EMU scored on a 54 yard drive after Pittsburgh fumbled on their first possession.
An ideal start for EMU, scoring on 2/2 possessions after forcing a fumble.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just kidding.

I thought the same thing.

Rod Carey doing his not-so-great-in-bowls schtick with Temple right now, down 20-6 at the half.

It’s okay, not a problem! For Carey’s teams, bowls are merely an exhibition game and reward for the players to show up, collect bling, and go to the beach.

Rod now down 34-6, four minutes into the 2nd half. Not surprised.

This is the Carey Bowl blue print. Could have been a closer game. Other teams QB much better. Miss a big pass. Give up a big pass...then the wheels come flying off.
Carey trying to replicate the Boise game again.
Check that. 41-6.

I think we have enough sample size to say now, whatever Rod is doing to prepare for bowl games, time to try something else. Go to Disneyworld, climb Mt Everest, go on a team skiing trip, just try something new.
Maybe he sells his recruits on...Bowl games are fun....we just go out and have a vacay for a week
Its crazy how many of you cheer on a guy to fail, when he brought 2 championships to the university.

Did any of you haters, play at NIU or are you just couch fans ?
Summary:
EMU lost a very hard and well fought tight game in the last minutes of the game to an excellent Pittsburgh team by only 4 points. This gave NIU former coach Pat Narduzi his very first bowl win after several unsuccessful attempts.

Temple sadly did not perform to regular season levels and got blown out by a good and very under-rated and very motivated NC team on the rise.

NIU coaches are 1-1 so far with PJ Fleck of the Gophers to face a very good Auburn team.

Any predictions regarding the Minnesota vs Auburn game?

It is wonderful that despite NIU not being in a Bowl this year, several NIU former coaches earned coveted Bowl games and one critical month of extra and invaluable practice.

It is incredible how much NIU FB has progressed since the 1990's.
It has truly left its mark Nationally as a coach's cradle.

Congratulations former coaches Joe Novak, Jerry Kill et al for the magnificent football legacy gifted to NIU.

Special congratulations to Pat Narduzzi, Rod Carey and especially PJ Fleck for-earning Bowl games and bringing more light and publicity to NIU FB.

Hopefully NC State and NIU will be Bowling next year.

Agree!

The Carey haters are irrational in their behavior.
Perhaps, they are irrational because he left us on his terms for a more prestigious, higher paying position, and the guy who replaced him went 5 -7...stands to reason, regarding, the misguided anonomosity...don't ya think

You might be correct!

The misguided animosity is beyond logic.
