Passer rating
#6 - Brady White - 185
Very strong. The highest rated G5 QB, and if he holds, it will be the best rating ever for a Tigers QB.

Completion percentage
#14 - BW - 72%
That's a great number. But most of us know he is, for the most part, accurate. After all, all he does is throw short passes. Yards per attempt will expose him...

Yards per attempt
#7 - BW - 10.3 YPA
What? No kidding, this blew me away. Sure it's a reflection of Norvell's offense. But you still gotta be impressed with this number from a guy who "can't throw the long ball". BTW, this is higher than Paxton or Riley achieved for a season.

QBR
#63 - BW - 60
And this is the "eye test" that many of us grumble about. This values all plays - running, passing, sacks, turnovers.

Brady is a good college quarterback. He is also an enigma to fans.

The issue is that fans have been spoiled with big arm, play making QBs in Lynch followed by Ferguson.

Brady isn't that type of QB. Brady is more of a game manager QB.

and we're winning games with him at QB ... Looking forward to the rest of this year and next year with him at the helm ...

I'm just offering this as a sanity check, not a counterpoint, but I'm assuming YPA includes YAC. We've had some pretty good YAC numbers in a couple of games.

Passer rating is more important than Quarterback rating. Passing is what Brady does. Running is what he is coached to do after he has done the last thing he is supposed to do. You just can't blame every sack on the quarterback.
Good stats.
Better than I expected.
Curious what Yards After Catch (YAC) might be.
Also wonder what YPA - YAC might be including ranking.

I can’t find a YAC link. What’s the link source for this?

He did what we needed to stay undefeated OOC. Kudos.
Let’s check back after week 10-11.
The source is ESPN NCAAF Stats. I've never seen YAC reported for college. Sure YPA includes YAC. We already know that Brady doesn't have the strongest vertical game. But a TD ran across the goal line after catch counts the same as one thrown over the goal line.

A lot of YAC can be attributed to the quarterback throwing the ball to the right receiver.

True, but bubble screens and 2 yard passes arent usually a choice by the QB. Those are called plays with one receiver/rb set up for the pass.

That is a fact that is missed on many people...

People complain over and over that Brady missed the open guy...But at least he found them. People just think everyone will be able know where to go with the ball.
When most of Brady's throws are screen passes, it BETTER be a high number.

IF Brady were to throw equal amount of long balls vs. screen passes, I'll bet his average would go down.

This seems like a universal truth. Granted I don't watch a whole lot of fball, but it seems most QBs don't have problems throwing short passes and miss more of the longer throws. So, if strictly comparing the two, it stands to reason completion percentages should go down. Paxton Lynch comes to mind as an exception. He threw too hard sometimes for receivers to catch on shorter throws. I remember watching the combine and his intermediate throws were off, but did much better on deep routes.

This is it. Brady is more of a role player who makes everyone else on the team better.

I would say many times those plays aren't called they are audibled to based on how the defense lines up.
I just wish he would scramble more. I don't want him taking a lot of big hits, but when there are 15-20 yards of open field and he decides to throw it away...

He made an effort in the last game to do so. Just as he's making an effort to go vertical a bit more.
I think the Navy game (and post-game film review) was a big learning experience for him.

Not necessarily. A lot of checked plays call for quick passes.

And if you're averaging 10 yards per ATTEMPT, does it even matter?

Which stat? Completion % or YPA?
Sure his completion % would go down. But the eye-opener for me was the YPA. Message board narrative is he's completing a lot, but they're going for 4-5 yards per play. That's not the case.

He has definitely thrown the ball away a couple of times when he had open grass which has been odd. Where I really see it is on the option with the RB. I think our offense would greatly benefit from him pulling the ball maybe twice a game and running. Even if he picks up no yards it would at least help keep the defense honest.

I have been critical on White for the most part. But I have resigned to the fact that he is our QB barring injury, and I would never wish an injury on someone. So, I am just rolling with it and hope he keeps leading us to victories.

Agreed. There was 1 play in the last game, in particular, where he had wide open field and could have scrambled and likely picked up the 1st down. But instead, he sailed it out of the end zone. I believe this was on 3rd down to make matters worse.

I'm sure he is being coached not to take unnecessary hits, but he also seems terrified of any contact whatsoever.
