As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over...

DJT has to go....laughing stock of the world

In case people don't believe this.

Keep telling yourself guys that this is a stable man of sound mind and body. Good Lord!

You do realize this move (which I dont like) and his tweet are completely compatible. Its exactly the same strategy he has employed with Iran. He has avoided a military conflict while being very aggressive and open about destroying their economy.

Yup. Unfortunate. I do hope we at least provide the Kurds with very significant weaponry and aggressively work to destroy Turkeys economy. If the cost is high enough, Turkey may willing to go for a diplomatic settlement before we have a genocide. I really dont like leaving the Kurds flapping in the breeze like this. I wish we would at least enforce a "no fly" zone.

Yes, but Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria would all invade.

We missed the chance to help the Iraqi Kurds establish a state.

they're surrounded....that's XACLY! what would happen....

Soooooooo pretty much exactly like Israel. So why not finish the job of coaching them up and providing them with weapons to defend themselves? Again .... pretty much just like Israel.

"pretty much" ≠ "completely surrounded"

I have no problem supplying them with weapons....it's spending USD and losing US lives with ground troops I take issue with...

these fk'rs will keep fighting until the sun doesn't rise or sand turns to glass....

I agree we missed the chance to help Kurdistan become a nation-state (which as owl said, should have been done when Turkey wanted into the EU, as it was a slam-dunk option at the time.).

As for the claim that Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria would have all invaded? It'd be more like they'd TRY to invade, and basically (IMO) got their butts kicked in trying to do so, particularly if they got the backing they deserved at the time.

Carve out a chunk of Mediterranean frontage. Syria has it. Saudi Arabia has plenty of water frontage and if you just let the Iranians play around with refineries they'll fail as a country in months.
A lot of the issues in the ME are a byproduct of European (British) colonialism. The countries should be redefined in order to reunite the ethnic groups. It was a smart move to manage colonies, but a terrible situation for the independent nations they later became.

while I agree with that scenario, it won't change one dayum thing how the fighting will continue until the end o' times or they finally destroy one another....

ref: Kuwait times and why we scorched that quick-like...that one was easy based on geography....

what we're in now is only a clusterbang of US lives and USD being wasted and lining 'pockets'.....

that's all this bs is about when it comes to our interests in today's world....

Israel isn't bordering Iran and Iraq and Turkey. The Kurds would get crushed.
It might have worked if the Kurds had played hardball before ISIS was crushed. Give us a state or you are on your own.

The Kurds don't have the heavy weaponry. We haven't given it to them for fear of it going to the Turkish Kurds. They could whip the Syrians and the Iraqi regular army even with better weapons. But the Turks, Iranians and Iraqi Shiite militias would be too much combined.

True, but don't forget the French.

Africa has many of the same issues.

Haven't they always been for war. I can't think of one president that was a Demoncrap that didn't start a war sometime in our history. You can't even say that Abe started the Civil War because what preceded the start of that war was when the South bombarded Fort Sumnter and Lincoln had to retaliate afterwards. The Southerners before breaking off from the US were mostly Democrats. The Northern Democrats and the Southern Democrats had different views on slavery and thus split. After the war they united again but still they had the same Jim Crow views.

The only war started by a Republican was the Grenada War and Reagan was president.

I don't think this changes the comparison. It isn't like Lebanon or Jordan are some massive barrier.
