IMO, Trump is looking out for the troops in spite of the Dems circus going on around him. I applaud him for taking care of the troops while the Dems continue to care only about regaining power by any means necessary.

Pretty sad comment on DC when Trump is the least impulsive person in the room.

"Oh its awful what they are doing to those sweet Kurds! Let's let our troops face Turkish artillery fire."

Well, TBH, I don't think their would be artillary fire if the US troops were there. However, that's irrelevant when the other option is getting our troops the hell out of there.
Does everyone realize there were only 50 troops moved? And they were just moved out of the way not out of the country. This is so overblown.

I wouldn't bet on Erdogan being reasonable.

Now, none of us were in the room with Erdogan. But his past actions and comments have been pretty reckless.
And none of the DC critics were in the room with Erdogan either. We know he's been itching to do this invasion for some time.

I agree. Erdogan is a complete a$$ that is overall terrible for Turkish democracy.

Erdogan is a Muslim cleric in Western clothes. He could very well rule the same way as the Ayatollah with supreme powers. He already has control of the voting booths now he wants control of the religious segment of the population by having a Muslim type government like Iran's.

It's not the moving of troops, it's the signal to turkey that we'll look the other way as you invade.

Eh, we've killed lots of civilians by mistake. Unfortunate, but **** happens in a war zone.
Pentagon sends new wave of troops to Saudi Arabia even as Trump calls for ending wars

Right, this is about ending wars and bringing troops home.

Think that supports my point. We got attacked even AFTER getting out of the way. We didn't need our troops in the middle.

Trump will do anything for his friends who murder. His membership in the club hasn't been accepted yet.

Sounds like its somewhat forced on the Pentagon to replace the carrier air wing that wont be there anymore. But I dont like the optics when we are leaving the Kurds unprotected.

WaPo is claiming the Pentagon says the Turks were deliberately "bracketing" our troops with artillery fire. And some of you think the Turks would be responsible and not invade if our troops stayed in place???? (again, assuming the WaPo article is reporting the truth).

That’s why I think the Turks gave Trump a heads up to move US troops out of the operations zone and told him they were coming whether we moved the troops or not.
https://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinio...51443.html

Aljazeera's take on what the US should have done.

Summary paragraph:
"...In short, simply by pressuring the PYD into a power-sharing agreement with the KNC, and encouraging it to use its influence in Arab-majority regions of Syria as leverage for autonomy, the US could have guaranteed the stability of northern Syria for years to come, and please Turkey, Iraqi Kurds and Syrian Kurds simultaneously.

Only a few years ago Obama left Iraq prematurely, without making political preparations to guarantee the country's stability. This colossal mistake led to the rise of ISIL. Trump is now repeating his predecessor's mistake in Syria. But his mistake risks not only paving the way for forces like Bashar al-Assad, Iran and Russia to fill the vacuum the US's departure will undoubtedly leave, but also destroying Washington's reputation as a reliable ally for years to come.

Trump is right. US troops cannot stay in the Middle East forever. But a premature departure is likely to be more destructive than any other scenario."

This. They are the aristocracy.

If Congress wants to declare war, then do it.

Otherwise bring our soldiers home

Democrats love war but want to take your guns. They have lost their minds
