That would make sense. If you look closely at the picture from Landers Center you can see the brown wood grain does not exactly match where the paint was sanded away. Thus painting over all the brown wood grain within the 3 point line would be the best solution to match it. I think it looks REALLY nice now, especially with the shade of gray they used for the new color. It's much better than the original brown wood grain.

Is that the new look? It looks SO much better.

Agreed. I like the gray a lot. Didn’t notice it on the FB Live stream.

It's looking good

I do wish they had left something iconic to the city on it. I liked the bridge on the old one. But, it looks 100% better than when they unveiled it.
