Just a sampling from this conference, how they match up with UT's attendance for 2018.

UCF: 41,196
UC: 28,453
ECU: 32,908
UCONN 20,923
Temple 28,470
Tulsa 17, 098

So I think UT would match up well playing in the AAC, granted mileage to a lot of these schools would be a bit.

Hate to be nitpicky, but these are 2017 numbers, not 2018 numbers, and certainly not from this season. Also...not quite sure what discussion you were hoping to start here.

We out draw, Tulane, Tulsa and UConn... Yay!!!...
I think we are aware of our fanbase size, and could draw 25,000 on average adding an extra top25 league team, and UC to the docket. Our ceiling is lower than most in that league though.

The Tulsa, Temple, UConn, ECU numbers are correct.
UC 30,519 and UCF 44019 are the right ones for 2018.
Tulane 18015
SMU 19383
Memphis 30178
Navy 31464
USF 38517

Yea especially if we are talking about all UT sports pulling out of MAC, not sure the finances would be workable.

Thinking only realistic way UT ever leaves MAC is if/when conference folds or merges with another mid conference (folding the more likely of those two), without MAC then perhaps UT would have other options.
I think there is far more of a chance that UT goes FCS or disbands scholarship athletics than them being asked to join the AAC, much as I would love them to be in the conference for selfish reasons.
Why is Tulsa in that league?

We ask that question all the time 03-lmfao...throw in Tulane as well.
Can't really see us trying to make a move on our own. Stay here, be the strength of the MAC and wait patiently. If something changes, it will likely be because of some bigger shift in the sport, or with conference realignment that we can't yet foresee. Just wait long enough, it will happen again.

It's a shame in many ways, because we have historically been a good football team. 19-15 against American foes and a winning record against all other group of 5 conferences.

Quality wise, we are ready to compete in that conference, there is zero question. If we had the prestige of a slightly bigger stage and the privilege of a bit more $ to work with, then I bet we could make some noise in the AAC, given the chance.

05-stirthepot Seems like UCF would want to move up from the American nowadays. I'd say they are ready and in the catbird seat. If the cream of the American moves up to another conference (UCF and Houston let's say), this could start a shift of teams moving around to fill voids. That said, still not sure Toledo is "up next" for something like this or not. Program quality wise "Yes", but if we need 35k in the stands each week to compete with other resumes also vying to get in, then "No".

Actually Rockets are 3-1 against the AAC since it's
beginning in 2013:

2013 Navy(9-4) W 45-44
2014 UCinn(9-4) L 34-58
2015 #24 Temple(10-4) W 32-17
2017 Tulsa(2-10) W 54-51
Temple plays in 70K seat Lincoln financial so 28k attendance is pretty ugly. Temple should have built a right sized stadium years ago but that just shows the lack of commitment to the program.

Go Rockets!

Thanks Boca, that helps further solidify the argument of quality as well. I should have qualified my statement as record "against members currently residing in the AAC". I realize that doesn't count for anything in the "now", but I still find those stats interesting, since they do tell a story about the history of a program.
