Was at the game yesterday, and one thing that was conspicuously absent in the "battle for the cannon" was the actual cannon blasting after we score. I don't think it is possible that I just didn't hear it. I saw the ROTC Cadets when we walked into the stadium off Oakland, but never heard cannon fire. Anyone know what's up with that?
The cannon was fired but it's much much quieter this year.
They told me it’s a supply issue with the blanks. You can only barely hear it from the student size. Very sad...
Really? Dang! Actually, every time it would go off in years past I would jump and duck, but I love it. It must be pretty quiet now; I didn't hear it at all.
I only noticed it once yesterday, it was incredibly quiet.

Bummer about the supply issue of that's the case, just dump in a second round!
I believe I heard it once.

Hopefully it's not a budget thing......
We don't need an overly loud cannot. Seriously.

I completely agree. It's been way too loud in the past. It's was extremely loud when I parked over by K-College.
If you don’t like Boomer, Ypsilanti offers you a quiet college football experience...

I don't dislike the idea of a cannon. I dislike the overly loud cannons I remember having at WMU games. It's not worth hearing damage for anyone.

Nobody's hearing was EVER damaged from WMU having a "Man-Cannon."

Get rid of the dainty little cap gun. Might as well have jingle bells.

Rattle some windows and make car alarms go off again!!!
make boomer great again!

Jesus......
That thing is a 75 mm pack howitzer from WW2, the blanks need to be manufactured special by a reloader who has access to the brass cases and knows what he's doing. Might not be cheap either. It was fun to hear it during games, though.

You volunteering to load? I’ll watch from here. 04-jawdrop
Anyone have the history of the Waldo cannon?
First year of use etc?
I grew up a few blocks from campus & the cannon has always been there.

Mr Whinny can you help? ?

I asked them if alumni could help in any way, and they didn't get back to me, so I assume it's entirely a problem of availability.

Happy that you asked that. If they do respond, don’t hesitate to reach out, post a link, whatever it takes. We need to keep SOME tradition going.
Apparently Boomer was triggering some PC folks. They went with dud shots this year. Some of you wouldn't make it thru a game at other schools where the noise is much louder than Waldo
