I'm old enough to remember when late night TV comedians were actually funny.

Ran into a YouTube recently of the Johnny Carson show with Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters. It was hilarious. Now in that case, Carson mostly just got out of the way.

Yea they used to not be a tool of any ideology but a group that challenged society on all sides.
Late night shows used to try and get laughs. Now they try to get applause. Angry people aren't funny.

And they actually made jokes about a variety of topics, not just the politics of the side they disagree with.

That's because back then they were trying to be funny. Now they are trying to push an agenda and make propaganda.

Comedy is funny. Preaching—not so much. By the way—the latest Bill Burr special on Netflix is hysterical. So is the most recent Dave Chapelle Netflix special. Interestingly, if you watch them both your going to see an emerging trend. A backlash against the insanely politically correct social climate has begun in the comedy world....and it’s pretty darn funny.
The last time I watched a late night comedy show was the day Jay Leno said goodbye. I tried Jimmie and the other guy, (see, I can't even remember their names) and I figured I wouldn't lose any sleep watching that trash. Too, too sophomoric, it should be sophmoronic, for my taste. I can't believe these idiots actually think wise people believe their schtick. They're no better than Mophead Whoopie Cushion.

Excellent observation. Bill Burr is one funny dude.
