Congrats The Citadel on an historic upset!

I don't think this word means what you think it means. But you're still less wrong than Dave Patenaude.

If Dave Patenaude would just stick with Tobias Oliver.... Man...

And the last kick was the dagger. It was historic for The Citadel one way or another.
Ouch. Give GT and new coach time. It will get better.

Perhaps.

But losing to El Cid is Shamecock bad.

Waffle House U got scattered, covered, smothered, and chunked.

It’s ok GTS - it gets better with time. 03-weeping
The Citadel have a few P5 scalps in recent years. It could have been worst that Tech could have lost to Savannah State.
This is the second straight year Coach Geoff Collins has lost to a FCS team...

2018 - Villanova
2019 - The Citadel

So my question is this a FBS coaching record? Has any other FBS coach in the modern era lost two straight years to FCS teams?

Feel great for The Citadel. That's the kind of game and win that will be remembered by them 75 years from now. Legends and Lore stuff, the stuff which college football is made of.

And everyone gets their chances. I mean, what do you think a Georgia vs Georgia Tech point spread would look like right now? 30?

Imagine if Tech pulls the upset.
The Citadel is 0-2 against the CAA, 1-0 against the ACC

I'll have to imagine. Because it won't happen in November. Two walk ons took their first snaps ever at OL and played all game against Citadel. The line was thin to begin the season and it's already down 3 starters. Every single person who goes down on the OL is being replaced by a walk on at this point. Walk ons don't beat UGAg. Regardless of spread. Regardless of luck. It doesn't happen. It won't happen.
When Arkansas lost to The Citadel, Broyles fired the coach the next day.

Jack Crowe. Compare Arkansas immediately before that game to after. Arkansas was a 10 win team in '88 and '89 under Ken Hatfield. Jack Crowe took over in '90, they lost to The Citadel in '92 to open the season.

They only have come close to Hatfield since under highly dubious coaches .... 10 wins in '06 under Houston Nutt. 10 wins in '10 and 11 in '11 under Bobby Petrino.

If I were AD in Atlanta would I fire anybody immediately after that game? No. I would fire Patenaude at the end of the season, and bring in Ralph Friedgen as a "consultant" (read: acting OC) effective immediately and also to very thoroughly vet the next OC hire.

No staff is perfect. Dabo threw his DC overboard after WVU boat raced Clemson. Perhaps this is a convenient point for Tech and Patenaude to part company at the end of the season.

I wasn't calling for GT to fire the coach. Just simply pointing out what happened in 1992.

He started a guy at QB currently playing at Sacred Heart after flaming out at ETSU. I think that says it all.

A few ? Who else have they beat besides South Carolina? In recent years, not 30 years ago.
