Let's keep rolling, need Patrick back for Navy game. Thoughts on this?
Lots of variation about Memphis:

30. CBS Sports
30. Coaches Poll
34. AP Poll
44. Sagarin
52. ESPN FPI

ESPN FPI uses number of games played on ESPN and the SEC network as a key metric , obviously it is flawed.*

*slight exaggeration but ESPN FPI is bogus as a three dollar bill- Ole Miss, utk and UCLA are ranked ahead of us in this useless poll 04-chairshot
ESPN FPI has Ole Miss 42 and Memphis 52.......

One of FPIs factors is recruiting rankings I believe which I think is BS.

Secondly yes we beat Ole Miss @ home but based on the game from a computers perspective the teams were fairly equal taking home field advantage into account.
2/3 road games and a nationally televised stand alone game with Navy will get some attention should we sweep the next three.

None of them would be beating Clemson but might result in regular top 25 ranking which is always nice.

Well it totally makes sense that Ole Miss would be ranked ahead of us since we lost to them... maybe in an alternate universe of reality where we won, we'd be ahead of them.

What matters is which team got to put a W by it’s name and which team got to put an L by its name. Memphis got the W and Ole Miss got the L. Ole Miss beat Arkansas in Oxford by a couple of touchdowns. The team earned the W, just like Memphis earned the W the week before.

If UTK and Ole Miss had played our cupcake schedule and not an SEC schedule, they would be 2-0 too...

Huh? If Tennessee had played Ole Miss, I'm pretty sure one of them wouldn't be 2-0.

Oh macgar. It's hard for me to not reply simply with "no ish." You lecture as if you're all knowing. I laugh.

10 spots is amazing to me. I'm amazed we're ranked lower than them at all. Ole Miss had great recruiting classes that led to their sub 200 defense last year. At some point, results matter. they have to. In other words, the ESPN FPI means diddle poo.

The variance in these rankings is large. Standard deviation of precisely WOW. Off the charts.

Rankings is one of the main reasons you dont show mercy in college football. Don't kneel on the ball, push it into the end zone.

Did I say I agreed with ranking...

All I did was add a little context as to why their ranking might be where it is (Even stated including recruiting rankings is BS)...But again stay angry my friend.

And just to check your logic...Did you agree with us being the #1 seed and UT being the #2 seed in the 2008 tourney? If you do agree you are admitting that head to head is not the only thing that matters.

There are a ton of ways to measure a teams performance...Some value some things more than others...All I did with my post was illustrate some of the things that the FPI values that may have led to that ranking then you get offended (Just strange).
