Figured I'd go ahead and get this started. Vegas and ESPN have this game pretty close. Troy is a 3 point favorite at home with a 51% change to win. Defensively, Southern Miss should cause our new offense some problems. Both teams look to go at breakneck pace. Troy may be better offensively, but I'd give Southern Miss the edge defensively. Pass defense is a little suspect, though. Southern Miss appears to be a second half team, so Troy will need to try and get ahead early.

Jaylond Adams will pose some problems for our new and inexperienced corners. He's a guy Troy fans remember, as he really wanted to sign with Troy, but on signing day his mother made him sign with Southern Miss. Kevin Perkins was on Troy's roster as the heir apparent to Jordan Chunn. You guys may remember Chunn as he played in the Troy / Southern Miss game in 2016. Big bruising back that plays for the Dallas Cowboys. Perkins is very similar and has a bright future with Southern Miss. Was academically ineligible for Troy and went back to JUCO before signing with Southern Miss. Having your all conference receiver back should be a big boost to your offense.

Troy's defense seems to be very good, holding Campbell to only 68 yards midway through the 4th. -34 yards in the 3rd Quarter. Lots of talent and experience up front in what is likely the best front seven in the Sun Belt. DC Brandon Hall had several Top 25 defenses at Jacksonville State and is a protégé of Brent Venables. Was under Vic Koenning last season and runs a similar defense.

The off week for Troy could be a bonus or a liability. Could give us an extra week to prep for Southern Miss. We are fully healthy where it looks like you are missing a few guys. The bye week could Troy with a new staff though. We really would have liked to have another game under our belt to get used to the new coaches and systems. Might be a wash.

Not sure how this game turns out, but it will tell both of our teams a lot about how we will look moving forward. As mentioned before, we have a lot of new looks in our stadium, and new premium concession items. Should you make the trip, you'll really enjoy it. Veterans Memorial Stadium is one of the best venues you'll visit in the G5.
We get over State this week. Good game but I don’t see us losing this one. Troy doesn’t come close to possessing the talent we faced last week. Our running game seems to be coming along and the defense got 3 sacks against a very good o-line last week so they should be able to harass your QB some. I guess we will see but I think maybe 28 to 17 Eagles.

That's the story. His girlfriend was going to Troy, and his mother would not sign the LOI. It was a signing day decision. I can't verify that as I only heard it on the Troy board. Either way it looks like he is doing very well at Southern Miss. Best of luck to him after Saturday's game.

As much as i wanna pick USM to win 21-17, I feel like Troy wins 27-21
Helmets for Troy on Saturday.
I don't even know what to think at this point. Against Alcorn the defense looked like a typical Jay Hopson defense, and the offense looked pathetic. Week 2 against MSU the offense looked to be really clicking, but wasn't able to punch it into the end zone. The secondary looked horrible against MSU though.

If I had to guess I would say the defense is back in form this week. Stevens and Hill both looked incredible for MSU, and likely made a good defense look bad. I think having Quez, Adams, and Jordan Mitchell together is going to make for an exciting offense. That is assuming we can continue improving in the running game.

I say USM by 10.

what killed me Saturday is Tim Jones was gashing them early and then we never went back to him again the rest of the game.

Probably a wrinkle that was thrown in and quickly adjusted to by $1,000,000 DCs.....

It’s sad that USM fans are so used to incompetent coaching that they can’t recognize in-game adjustments when they see them. Yes, we moved the ball well our 1st two drives. State made appropriate adjustments and pretty much bottled us up after that. What a concept.

walks hand in hand with JA being abandoned over the middle,,,

TJ should've caught that first one....that was a big drop (granted, in traffic)....he made up for it, but the corches decided, nah.....fk it...that's working....let's pull out the safety valve for a guaranteed loss...

I still can't believe it...

always wear out the horse that's workin'.....until they figure it out...
