I did some snooping around on the UNLV forum. Their folks feel like our game is a must win for their program. While no one is saying anything for stAte I kind of feel like most of us think the same thing about it being a must win for them.
Here's how I see it. In OOC we have them, @Georgia and Southern Illinois at home. We did OK in our game with SMU considering all the question marks but to be honest we should have won that game. A continuing theme with this program. I think our chances with Georgia are exactly nil. The game with the Salukis probably won't be a big challenge and won't tell us much about ourselves.
I think it is important for stAte to win to establish an identity prior to conference play. All the new faces need this win to gel, coaches and players alike.
We never expect stAte to win OOC games, it’s not who you are.
It’s a must win for us for crying out loud.

Being without our head coach, having our brand new defensive coordinator trying to devise a game plan and be DC, having almost all of our other coaches new, having 4 of our starting linemen out, our two best receivers out, and our best TE out will hamper our ability to win games we should win. I would not be surprised in the least if we go 1-3 to start out. It's just a sucky situation all around. Maybe we'll pick it up after our FCS game.

Its not a must-win for Blake. He and the new staff will survive the season unless the wheels really come off, and maybe he should, but that's beside the point.
For the Ark State fan base I'd say it's a must win. Conference-wise we can't have a team that might be a division champ losing to a lower-tier MWC team.

I feel the same way. Green has done ZIP for stAte. He's hurt all the time. I think he's another one of those guys who transferred in and will never contribute anything.

Its not a must win for Blake, he's not even coaching this game. Still on Leave. His father is getting close to passing away as well...
