F Ole Miss
$84 a year?
starts funny and gets funnier...Here are some excerpts from the article.

Happy Labor Day, Memphis fans! Isn’t it a good thing you have the extra day?

That gives you more time to decide how to handle it when you return to work Tuesday with your friends (ha!) from Ole Miss and Tennessee.

............
You could say, to the Ole Miss fan: "Bless y’all’s hearts, you played really hard. You hung with us until that safety in the fourth quarter. It’s not like you were favored or anything. You’ve still got the Grove. And I hear Ole Miss administrators announced they’re allowing alcohol sales in the stadium this year. That will certainly help."
....................
It’ll be even easier to taunt your Tennessee friends. Although they may be harder to find. Point out that Tennessee paid $950,000 for that beatdown by Georgia State.

And it gets even funnier still....lol
I would pay double 84 for this, btw

I'm on a fixedt income so I would have to dip into my 401k for such an expensive luxury.
After reading that, I assume that Geoff is not in favor of the thread I started about trying to convert Vul and Webelfans to change over and be Tiger fans. He does bring up some funny stuff, I'm still smiling.

Only a short-sighted fool would be against welcoming in UTk and Rebel fans who are ready to find a new team.

Obviously, they started out low on cash to fund this enterprise and now are asking for a year up front. They are blaming it on CC fees but those are usually 3% for the business? My business didn’t accept CCs so I’m not sure.

Bad business decision.

Welcome their money if they want to buy a Tiger shirt or attend a game. However, fandom isn't for sale or purchase, and should not be contingent upon having a good season. If they "are ready to find a new team", then they aren't fans.

Was it Conway Twitty that famously said, "If you don't like my records buy them and break them." Or something like that. Anyway, if some depressed vols or blacklandsharkbears want solace by buying tickets to some Tiger games then who are we to judge? Take their money, help with some therapy, and console them in their season of misery and perhaps they will come to the light. Or something like that.
I suggested they charge $8-9/monthly to cover the "fees". I have a side business, and charge $11.99 for six months access and $19.99 for a year. After PayPal's credit card fees, my profit is $11.34/six months and $19.11/year. I'm not a special case... anyone can get those kinds of rates.

I've gone on the record with a support ticket and emails to the Daily Memphian that I'll purchase a subscription the day that they announce going back to a monthly price. Their website used to say $7/month... but then charge you $84 up front once you tried to subscribe. They've since changed it to be more straightfoward, but I really feel they're leaving money on the table not offering a monthly charge.
That was Savage.....

The commercial appeal is .99. Which is the better value?
Nice story but I can't support Calkins. He is out of control on twitter bashing churches, etc for having any belief that isn't from a liberal viewpoint.

Yeah, but he's a great writer that we are lucky to have. Or some **** like that.

No, the fool would be thinking any switch by one of their fans would be long term. It's much like welcoming them to our stadium when their team is on a bye. No thanks. I'd rather welcome actual potential fans.

A casual observer will remain a casual observer. If one is a "fan" simply because it's the shirt at Wal-Mart, then they won't be the type of fan we are trying to cultivate.

That said, their money spends just as well. Redecorate your life in Tiger Blue if you wish. All the retailers will thank them.

The last paragraph sums it up. Who cares if they are long term? Bandwagon fans spend awhole lot of money showing everyone what big fans they are of the new team. That is a lot of flags, shirts, stickers, etc. I wonder how much Alabama has increased sales over Sabans career with all the bandwagon fans jumping on, millions upon millions.
