If Virginia and NC State are losses for FSU, and Clemson will surely be a loss, I expect Taggart to be out before the season ends
It's hard to fire a coach after 2 years. I give him 3 years.

Yeah, but just to be sure he better sign a top 10 class...

Thought he was a terrible hire to begin with. I think a second sub 500 season and his gone.

If FSU loses to Virginia, and they very well could, things will get ugly. A loss to Clemson is assured. And if FSU loses to Miami?

I would fire him after that game and hire Briles as temporary head coach
Not much anyone could do without an OL. Give him a chance to recruit.

I knew there would be some p-oed FSU fans. I didn't think they would be dipping the torches in oil this early though.

Unless a top coach becomes available, and at the right time, Taggart is in for another year.
Gotta give him 3 years. The o-line is not a quick fix. The unit I am most disappointed in is the defense. I hope Barnett can get that part fixed in a hurry.

Other than that, FSU lost to what could end up being a very good BSU team so don’t jump off any bridges yet. We were not the first scalp they took nor the last.
FSU had 43K season tix holders a few years ago. 25K this year.

Keep Willie next year you will see 15-18K.

Good luck, with that FSU. Athletics has been mismanaged for years and it was part of Jimbo's issues at FSU.

Somebody explain to me how Willie learns how to coach if given a 3rd year. FSU's issues are even deeper than Willie. They need to completely revamp leadership starting with Athletic Dir.

Can we bring back the old logo and old helmets?

I've seen this rodeo before and it doesn't end well

Think Charlie Strong at Texas
Think Les Miles at LSU
Kevin Sumlin
Charlie Weis
Ron Zook

If FSU loses at Virginia in two weeks, I think it will get ugly
I think FSU will keep Taggart for a quite a while.
The reasons are numerous:

If Florida State fires Taggart before his contract expires on Jan. 31, 2023, his buyout is 85 percent of the remaining balance. For example, for simplicity's sake, if the Seminoles fire Taggart on Feb. 1, 2020, after his second full season as head coach, they would owe him 85 percent of $20 million, or $17 million.

Feb. 1, 2020: $17 million
Feb. 1, 2021: $12.75 million
Feb. 1, 2022: $8.5 million
Feb. 1: 2023: $4.25 million

Willie seems to be a good recruiter
FSU finished #19 in recruiting rankings in 2019 recruits
FSU is #9 in recruiting rankings for 2020 recruits.

With his good recruiting it is surprising my team Syracuse even has a chance on the field. Syracuse consistently finished #55 in 2019 recruiting and #69 in 2020 recruiting.
Perhaps he just needs to hire better coaches.
Anyways it is too soon to fire him, it will break the bank. I hope he has a long career with FSU.

What good does it do to fire a coach before the end of a season? What good does it do to fire a coach so early in his contract? Does this sort of twitchy behavior make FSU seem appealing to top flight coaches who might think about the job? I can’t guarantee that patience will be rewarded but impatience is likely to be punished.

If Taggart can't do it, I would want to see if Briles can do it. I'd let Briles coach out the rest of the season

Twitchy Behavior? I'd say Tennessee and South Carolina could use some twitchy behviors. I don't want to see FSU reach that level.

FSU has the talent to win now. I don't expect Taggart to beat Clemson out of the gate, but FSU blew the game Saturday, largely cause of coaching.

Taggart isn't showing he is cut out for this. I think FSU has the wrong guy. Maybe he can prove me wrong. Virginia is a must win now. Too many losses and he's going to lose the team.

So what? Eat the money and fire the people that hired him too

Jimbo averaged #6 with his recruiting classes. That is AVERAGE. Bobby Bowden was similar for basically his last 2-3 decades.

Willie landing the #19 class doesn't prove anything good about his recruiting. Not at FSU.

He has hired horrible coaches. That is part of his issue and why he has failed.

If FSU has lost 18K season tix holders the last few years (not all Willies fault, but still part of the logic), That is how much money?

Avg season tix costs say $300 plus $200 donation (just a swag, but I pay like $3K just for donation as example).

So $500 times 18K = $9 Million a year. EXTREMELY conservative estimate and doesn't even touch the impact of local economy.

Why folks ONLY look at the buyout is beyond me. FSU football brings in 10s of millions and folks only look at the buyout in a vaccum.

FSU WILL lose 10s of millinos if they fire Willie and they WILL lose 10s of millions if they don't.

The money is lost no matter what. Should FSU lose it with willie still HC on the other end? Or lose it and have Willie replaced by a coach the fans believe in?
NC State? What did they show yesterday that makes anyone think they can beat Florida State?

Virginia is gonna beat a bunch of people this year.

We saw how good FSU could be in the first half. They put a full game together, they'll easily exceed 500 this year.

Taggart ain't going anywhere, and the Noles fans will be happy about that ... eventually.

NC State has FSU's number the same way WF has State's. It's been that way since the late 90's. So it's almost always a "potential" loss no matter how good FSU is that particular year. NC State is 9-11 vs FSU over the last two decades. At no time in that period did NC State have a full team of athletes superior to FSU. However we did have 5 nfl qbs - Rivers, Wilson, Glennon, Brissett, and Finely.

As far as yesterday for State, it was the cleanest start in Doreen's history at State. For the past 6 years, we would see something really stupid in the first game. Like the game against SC we pissed away two years ago. This was different - almost no mental mistakes.

Avoideing mental mistakes is how a team with lesser athletes beats the team with better athletes. It has been WF's stock and trade for decades.

.500? really, FSU fans will be thrilled. You watch football much? FSu just had worst season in 40 years. WT isn't winning the fans over with 7 wins.

Next season tougher schedule gonna be a huge problem for him as well.

He is gone this Dec or next. The only thing that matters is the fans and how many tix they buy. They wont' be buying them with 7 and 8 win season at FSU.

It's all over but the wait now.
I would sure like to see the other 11 games before I fire someone in just their second year.
