STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's football and men's basketball programs were hit with a long list of sanctions Friday.
The NCAA announced that a former part-time athletics department tutor at Mississippi State took exams and completed assignments for 10 Bulldog football players and one MSU men's basketball player in an online general chemistry course during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year.
According to the agreement, eight of the football players and the one men's basketball player competed while ineligible because of the misconduct. Due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the university is unable to comment on the student athletes involved.
reports are the football players will be suspended for 8 games. You can almost bet that Missouri will get involved due to them having a similar situation but Missouri also had post season bans added.

Isn't this very similar to what our basketball program got busted for. In the case of MSU the "tutor" gets a 10 year show cause and in our case the Head Coach gets a 10 year show cause. Why would the tutor do that. I'm assuming she did it all on her own for no reason.

Exactly. But the "tutor" in Usms case took place at a junior college and didnt take place on Usms campus if memory serves correct. Complete, pathetic joke if Msu doesn't getthe book trown at them like Usm and the head coach.
Edit : just read the penalties. Slap on the wrist. Sad and ******* pathetic. Oh, but DT is the devil. ******* joke. Prob the best coach we've ever had.

Has nothing to do with Tyndall actions being ok because Mississippi State did it too and everything to do with the fact that the NCAA tries to harm smaller schools while making sure the big boys are well taken care of.
They should have gotten the same penalties we did.

OR, we should have gotten the same penalties they did. Hence, making what DT did.....nothing....not so bad. Depends on how you look at it.
But im not so concerned about DT or the tutor. Im concerned about the institutions being treated differently by the NCAA. I thought that point shined through but evidently did not. They try to destroy and make an example of a small school....and the coach, but slap SEC school on the wrist. Their should be federal investigations on the NCAA. Fbi, Doj, whoever. Id imagine they get federal funds somewhere.
The real question is, Who paid the tutor to do this and how much did she get paid?

The tutor, who was also a student, offered to do the players’ assignments and take their tests in an online course in exchange for money. Obviously the players suspensions are warranted, but since there were no coaches, administrators or boosters involved, their program avoided major penalties.
Sure, they weren't involved.
Do the students still get credit for the classes? Why are they not expelled? Our basketball guys ended up having to leave. Every one of them that was involved left USM.

Important detail. It could’ve just been a groupie as opposed to a contractor. Regardless, that’s still the part of the story where the fun lies.
And in defense of State [spit] in regard to the comparisons, at least this was confined to their own campus. We had a team going around to multiple schools to commit academic fraud.
