Don’t be surprised when you see these schools pop up more often on Dave’s “could go to D1” list. Even though they are already on it and the list is 1,000 schools long

Some of these schools have a conservative and/or Christian element, so I'm not surprised to see them on the list.

But Texas State??? I always thought it was a party school. Where I live, it's where people go to get away from home (but not too far away), but can't get into UT or A&M.
Geez LU isn’t on the list but it should be. There are lots of off campus parties.

Baptist imbibe. They just won't speak to you in the liquor store!
Baylor and Texas State

Can't believe Pensacola Christian College isn't on the list. Even going to the movies is not allowed, and they've coerced pregnancy tests from students suspected of having engaged in premarital sex.
None of these are surprising.
The CUNY's are quite unassuming. You'll be walking in Manhattan, and then, you just pass by a block or two with a few banners...oh, THAT's Hunter? Not much of a bar scene depending on the campus location. They give off a commuter vibe; not a big traditional campus feel despite their enrollment numbers.

They don't make love standing up, either, because if ever caught, they wouldn't want anyone to think they might be dancing.
Take Texas State off the list and replace with Liberty.
What happened to Bob Jones University?
Yeah unless things have changed radically Texas State has always been known as Party School where academics are a very distant distraction. Someone told me that for awhile they didn’t even bother having class on Fridays because no one ever showed up. Don’t know if that’s true but that’s the reputation TXSU has so seeing them on this list is a little WTF. It’s like seeing BYU on the party school list
Any idea what exactly the rubric was for this?
Rubric: the link says "Based on student ratings concerning the use of alcohol and drugs at their school, the number of hours they study each day outside of class time, and the popularity of fraternities/sororities at their school."

UC Merced is indeed surprising. But it is by no means "remote", only someone from a true urban environment would think that. It's practically in the middle of the state, easy to get to on good roads, about 3 hours from the Bay area and 5 from LA, and Merced has a population of around 100k. But there really isn't anything to do there except maybe go to Yosemite. Which is why it's surprising that it's on this list. When students are bored, they drink.
Might as well take off the service academies too. They may not smoke or snort anything, but they drink like prohibition is coming.

ColKurtz, that's because they are not accredited by SACS?
They were not accredited for years, but recently they decided to change their stance on that to be accredited by an agency that accredits Christian college. Same with Bob Jones University.
I am surprised not to see Samford on this list though. They're a Baptist school just like Baylor and they are accredited by SACS.

Well that, and repressed dancing is bad dancing!
