I'm confused. Her 200 Back time of 2:09.45 was ranked 18th in the world. Looking for MAC comparisons from last season

Hmmm ... had to look this up, but it is the difference between meters vs. yards. The times reported from her from the Pan Am games and Canadian events are in meters (probably all long course too.) Would have been nice if the article made that clear. The MAC times you linked are for short course yards.
Using one of the many on-line time converters:
2:09:45 (200m long course) = 1:54:45 (200y short course)

Drop swimming, add lacrosse.
My guess is he got the job largely on the strength of that recruit. That really stinks.
