Four (that's FOUR-4) pick-sixes today. This is not encouraging.

And the Rushing attack seems to be retreating;

Rushing (Do Not Include QBs)
Jaylond Adams – 2-0
Jordan Kempf – 7-13
Darius Maberry 3-13
Kevin Perkins – 4-3
Trivenskey Mosley – 8-8
T.Q. Newsome – 5-6, TD (1-yard)
Quez Watkins 1-15
Dalton Bradfield – 8-8, TD (2-yard)

Anyone witness this?

Tate with 3 td passes but 3 ints. Quez had this to say though;

Redshirt junior receiver Quez Watkins, who sat out the spring, said Saturday that he has seen significant improvement out of Whatley since he was forced into action late in the 2018 campaign.

“Tate has brought his arm to a whole other level this season,” Watkins said. “His decision making is tremendous.”

Yes, Tate has a long way to go. I bet in high school he was running more than passing and it shows. I wish we could redshirt him this year and give him time to develop his lack of accuracy. If nothing else he would be a candidate to switch positions and utilize his athleticism. I wonder why Steven Anderson didn't play today? I hope he stays with the team.

I saw on Twitter where the RBs posted a photo and he wasn't in it and seemed to be jokingly asking to be cropped (photoshopped) into their photo. Who knows
Anderson had a personal situation, not football or discipline related. He has been out of state. Should be back soon, hopefully.

O-line had a handful of starters that were held out Saturday.

I am glad he is still with the team. We are going to have legit size at the RB position with Anderson, Newsome and Perkins. I hope the line is fixed to open holes for them and to protect Jack.
Slot receiver Tim Jones had 60ish yards on 4 catches and 3 TD’s. Hoping the new OC utilizes him more like Fed did with Casey Martin.

I believe the offensive scheme will be miles ahead of what we've been use to under Hop / the previous OC. I think the players will respect and respond to the new OC a lot more as well. Feeling good about the season ahead. The offense usually is way behind the defense in the early practices of the season. Appears the case here.

I'm hoping your right.. as someone said elsewhere, with our defensive returnees, I'm confident we can keep ourselves in any game.

It's how quick the Offense comes together determines if we win those games we're competing in... or if we lose those games we're competing in.

One should certainly hope.

And this "joke" is one of those reasons I quit posting on some boards..

I'm getting too old to be all "Naysayer" anymore... I"m not even being a damn "super cheerleader"...

I said "I'm confident".

You're not? Fine .. go get grumpy in your own corner of the world, or at least take my name off _Your_ rewriting of my statement BDR.
Yeah, it’s not as funny when you have to literally change his words to make it work.

That's pretty much all he's got
The rushing stats from the scrimmage are scary. Sounds like the same problems as last year.

On steamy Saturday morning at M.M. Roberts Stadium, USM’s defense held the offense to 66 yards on 38 carries.

From all accounts we've heard how good/great the defense should be this year so I'd rather see that than to read "USM's defense allowed 400 yards and 6 TDs". In scrimmages it's almost always a double edged sword. It's highly unlikely you'll ever see both the offense and defense look great in intrasquad scrimmages unless the 1 Off is going against the 2 Def while the 2 Off is going against the 1 Def

Exactly.. And honestly.. I'd rather there be 4 picks in practice working on getting it together than 4 picks in a game.

hmmm... when I first read this, I wondered why you wouldn't want our defense to get 4 picks in a game. But I'm sure you mean, you'd rather see 4 interceptions thrown in a practice rather than 4 thrown in a game. Of course we want 4 picks in a game. 04-cheers
Ill add; there were actually more than 4 ints in the scrimmage. I think was 5....maybe more. There were 4 Pick Sixes. But yeah, i get the point. I see where the San Fran starter threw 5 passes in a row at practice that were intercepted. It wasnt a scrimmag though. But, yeah....it happens. As i said, the D is usually way ahead of the O early in the season.

I want the Defense to pick every pass off in a game and hold each runner to negative yardage.... I want a TD from the offense every series, perfectly balanced as all things should be of course...

But during the practice, man do what you gotta do to work out the wrinkles.
I'm not holding out hope. That number of picks and the lack of rushing yards indicates that the Oline is not ahead of last year. Sure our defense is good but those stats indicate complete domination.

One saving grace is the backup QB threw 75% of those picks, but I am really worried about the O-line going into this season. We are in for a long season if they haven't improved.
