Mark Berman just tweeted that we hired Trevor Cobb
"as external relations ass't. Works in fund raising & keeping former athletes connected to the program. Trevor won the Doak Walker Award in 1991 & named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018."
Excellent! Good luck Trevor!
Excellent news!
Awesome. One of the best all time.
Yeah he called me a month or so ago. I thought it was pretty cool.
The two Owls I never understood didn't get to play on Sunday are Trevor and Chase. Chase was as good as Colt and Keenum, both of which are still playing. And Trevor was the best RB in the SWC for two+ years. Any thoughts?

Trevor hurt his knee in Chiefs camp (not sure if it was before or at training camp), so he never really had a chance to get his career off the ground.

I won't answer for Chase - sometimes, the borderline cases come down to the chances you get or take.

Another one, in a different sport, is Brent Scott. I had co-workers of mine (I worked in DC-area, so it's not like they lived and breathed Rice basketball) who couldn't understand why a talented low post player like him never got a shot in the NBA (particularly 90s-style NBA play).
Chase was amazing at keeping the play alive, extending... then just somehow get it into Jarrett’s zip code and you’ve got a first down.

I know both were undersized for the pro game but to me Dillard was the single most amazing talent I’ve seen in a Rice Football uniform. Sure was a delight to watch them ring it up 100x.
Dillard was amazing. I well never forget the catch against UAB? in 2006? where he caught the ball at midfield and sprinted out of bounds, so we could kick the winning field goal. In 08, he was unstoppable if he wasn't doubleteamed……..
Hiring a College Football Hall of Fame member to be part of your AD staff is a great move. It should be a huge positive for our program.
Hiring former Owl greats is good any time.
