Is it racism if you are concerned about your race?

Is it racism to want your race to take over the population?

Is it racism to want to ‘get back at’ another race?

Is it racism to vote for only people of your race when possible?

Is it racism to only have ‘heroes’ of your own race?

Is it racism when the first thing you notice about someone is race?

Is it racism to be afraid of people of a different race?

Is it racism to want entertainment restricted to your race?

I have many more questions and a few answers but just wondering what the local population thinks.
To me it's simple...making a priori judgements about an individual based on race when it's not absolutely necessary to do so.

Racism is not rejecting the notion that only systemic bias can create social discrepancies between different groups. The problem is that the left increasingly believes that even saying that should be socially unacceptable, and that's why you really can't have a conversation about the subject.
I don't know? The word "racist" is used so frequently today that it has lost it's power in describing what's ugly.

No. I don't see any issue with being proud of where you came from and want the best for those that share similar ancestral backgrounds.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]Is it racism to want your race to take over the population?
Yes. I think this eludes to defining your race as better than another.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]Is it racism to want to ‘get back at’ another race?
Yes. Whatever happened to you by whomever is surely tragic/unfortunate/etc, but those were the actions of an individual, not of an entire race.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]Is it racism to vote for only people of your race when possible?
Yes. We should be voting for the individual who you think would be best for your community, regardless of race.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]Is it racism to only have ‘heroes’ of your own race?
I think it could be. If you choose a 'hero' based on race first, and heroic traits second...I would view that as racist.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]Is it racism when the first thing you notice about someone is race?
No. It's human nature to identify similarities and differences. I hate when I try to describe someone and get a weird look when I say "Joe, yeah, he's the tall black guy with glasses that wears the purple ties alot", as if skin color isn't a feature that should be used to help identify someone. He's not gonna magically turn white if I leave that part out or something.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]Is it racism to be afraid of people of a different race?
This one is tricky. If you had to peg me down to either yes or no, I'd say "No". People are primed to hang around people that look, talk, and act like themselves. It's true that when someone doesn't understand something, the first emotion is fear.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]Is it racism to want entertainment restricted to your race?
I'd have to say yes on this one. Just like with 'heroes', your first thought shouldn't be what color are they, it should be, 'do I enjoy this song/movie/show'.

(08-06-2019 08:43 AM)SoMs Eagle Wrote: [ -> ]I have many more questions and a few answers but just wondering what the local population thinks.
Any thought, action or deed that seeks to prohibit, restrict or otherwise impede an individuals access to guaranteed civil rights or which seeks to hinder, limit or deny opportunity based on the race of an individual.

I would consider racism making judgements and assumptions about people based on nothing more than the color of their skin. On the other hand, merely disagreeing with someone of a different race is not racism.
Is someone racist because they've only ever wanted to date someone the same race as them?
Is someone racist because they prefer their offspring go to a school that's predominately the same race as them?
Is someone racist because they prefer to live in a neighborhood/community/city that's predominately the same race as them?
Is someone racist because they hope their offspring to date/marry someone the same race as them?

Many would argue that if you answer YES to any of these questions, then you are absolutely racist, period. The left will tell you that racism = prejudice + power...and "because white people historically have more power" it's impossible for white people to ever experience racism.

To me it's simple, racism means prescribing to racial superiority/inferiority complexes.

This.
I think racism is one when one race believes that another race is not CAPABLE of doing something... and I put capable in capital letters.

The determination of if you are racist or now when answering those questions is different based on what race you are. If you are white and answer yes to those you are racist. If you are Asian, African-American, Hispanic, etc. then no. That's the problem.

None of that is racist.

Which kinda goes back to the leftists argument of "because white people have historically have been more oppressive, it's technically impossible for them to experience racism today"

Yes

Yes

Is it racism to only have ‘heroes’ of your own race?
Yes, not that its wrong to have most of your heroes of the same race
Is it racism when the first thing you notice about someone is race?
no
Is it racism to be afraid of people of a different race?
only if you are afraid of all people of that race--if a Black 50 something male in a nice business suit scares you, or a group of well dressed Black women Jehovah Witnesses scares you, then yes.
Is it racism to want entertainment restricted to your race?

Of course the left distorts and devalues the meaning of racism by defining it as anything that doesn't agree with their viewpoints.
The one other thing that pisses me off is the lines being crossed with Nationalism vs Racism.

IMO - Trump is trying to protect the best interests of our country. It could be Germany, England, Egypt, China, Cambodia, Poland or ANY country directly to our south and if their citizens were illegally entering our country stealing our jobs and stealing our stuff he would be looking for a wall to stop them.... It just happens to be Mexico... He is not Anti-Mexico, he is Anti-Illegal immigration. If this problem was coming from the North - DJT would be looking for the same borders between Canada and the US too... But that is not happening.

He is not a white supremacist - he is American Supremacist. He wants to take care of America and Americans first (Americans are all people who live here and follow the rules not just the white ones), he doesn't want to be taken advantage of globally in trade or military; he does, however, want to be the best! I am OK with that and so should any sane person living within our boundaries.

You put anyone in that office - from Reagan to Obama to Trump to the current 24+/- Democratic candidates shooting for office right now - ALL of them - EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM - want our country to be the best. Even those 5 or 6 dopes who think Socialism is the answer - which they really don't BTW..... still want the US to be #1 regardless.

That is post the modern Marxist university taught version.

No no no, that is prejudice, not racism. This confusion is a big problem. Two totally different things. And you can't tell me that you haven't avoided contact with someone or a group of people because you didn't like the looks of them and it has nothing to do with race.

Racism is the belief that one race is inherently and genetically superior to another. You can be prejudiced without being a racist.
Being white

In that case the entire democrat party is racist. And I don’t disagree. Minority’s are told every day they need the help of the democrat party to succeed. They are told they are not capable without their ‘help’. That is one of the most heinous practices of that party.
These days it evidently means anything that isn’t leftist dogma.
