Where do you see Texas Longhorns playing football in 2026?

The Big 12, unfortunately.

I just dont think they are going to move. I do think both Oklahoma and Texas will end up with "special" deals in the Big12. Texas already kinda has one. Oklahoma will get some sort of valuable concession as well. I just think that in the final analysis---the Big12 works best for both of those schools right now.

In 2026, the Longhorns will still be in the Big 12, and the internets will still be full of people claiming that their departure is imminent. Most of those people will also be claiming that Notre Dame is dooooooooooomed unless their football team joins a conference very, very soon.

Yep. They have 9 other schools they get to push around, and none of them have the clout to do much of anything about it. They get things their way, and they get their own conference office to load up with Horns sympathizers, they get their own network, and the most the other teams besides Oklahoma can do is grumble a little. Even then, Oklahoma's stuck with a black and orange albatross around their neck. They have a pretty sweet deal going.
The only way Texas goes anywhere is if 3 other teams leave first.

That's when they go independent in football, securing a "Notre Dame Arrangement" with the ACC.

Oklahoma will be in the Big Ten. (forcing me to lay odds: 70% B1G, 25% SEC, 5% stay in Big 12 ... don't discount SEC option)
- a special deal wont close the growing revenue gap to the SEC/B1G for OU,
- they don't have $19M from the LHN that Texas will average 2025-31
- they wont sign over 3rd tier with the little 8 without Texas doing likewise
- OU could turn down the B1G for the SEC if they are not granted Thanksgiving for Bedlam (SEC gets it, B1G maybe not)

Texas is uncertain. It comes down to whether they think staying in the Big 12 without Oklahoma is good enough.

OK, that was a cop out. I vote ACC because I think the answer to the question above is, no it's not with staying without OU, there just isn't enough juice in the little-8 to keep marquee status. That said I still think there is somewhere between a 1/3 and 1/2 chance they stay. If they move, the ACC seems the best option to keep Texas a top dog in the yard. In the SEC they definitely would not hold that status, and in the B1G they would have to work at it to have the same voice as Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin at the meetings. In the ACC they'd be that top dog, even eclipsing North Carolina. the question is can the ACC money be good enough to keep Texas (with the LHN for 6 years anyway) on level playing field with the SEC and B1G? That same question has to be asked of the B12.

So my vote for the ACC is a marginal vote, just a tick more likely than staying put. But it's based on the premise that there is very little chance of OU staying, there is no way the money will be enough.
