Thinking about going to the Western and Southern Open in mid August. I'd like to check out the nightlife one night. Is there any certain area I should go, everything coming up on google earth is kind of spread out. Also how about the underground tour is it any good.

Hey Jonesing. I don't live in the city any longer, but travel back there at least annually, which gives me somewhat of a unique perspective. As a "tourist", I love visiting Over the Rhine now. It's one of the country's most historic neighborhoods. Great nightlife, and the same place as the underground tours. And the tours are amazing!

1) King Island Amusement Park is across the road from the Tennis Courts if you have kids or like roller coasters.
2) OTR if your looking to booze all day in the city in one location. (Findlay Market for Sunday brunch/lunch I recommend).
3) The Banks has dining and bars in between Reds/Bengals stadium.
Western and Southern is located about 30 minutes north of Cincinnati close to where I work in Mason, Ohio. Any recommended restaurant in Kenwood, Oakley, High Park, Mount Lookout, Blue Ash, Mt. Adams, or Indian Hill will be decent.
I've never done the Underground Tour but heard it is OK. If your into Arts or History I would definitely recommend other things to do within the Cincinnati Area/Northern Kentucky over that.

Bingo. That looks exactly like what I was looking for area with multiple bars to hop around to. Thanks man. Awesome look to that area too. I'm going to check out the tour as well always like to get one historical site or tour in in a new city.

Anything cool historical wise in Northern Kentucky you'd suggest? I've never actually been to Kentucky so I'll probably just go over there check that state off at the least. Reasonable ubering distance. I'm not going to rent a car or anything.

To add to this - what interests you? we like to tout our breweries and assuming you'll spend a day downtown/OTR there's a handful down there as well as a couple in the Mason area.
If I were visiting from out of town, I'd spend part of a day on the riverfront/Smale Park/the Banks, I believe the Reds are in town if baseball interests you, plenty of lunch spots at the banks and OTR - too many to list here.
If you are into bourbon or just southern cuisine, lots of stuff happening in Covington KY. New Riff distillery in Newport has some nice tours of their amazing facility and a cocktail bar.

OTR is good for cool places to eat and drink. But a warning is if you go a couple blocks to far the neighborhoods can be sketchy.
Mt. Adams has good eats and drinks.
The bank has similar.
These are 20-25 miles from the Tennis Center.
There is Miami Valley Casino nearby. In the Tennis center area there are things such as Kings Island and some restaurants but no "happening places"

There is a Gangster Tour over in Newport. A lot of people don't realize Newport was a haven for gambling, boot legging, prostitution, organized crime, etc. back during Prohibition. If you were a fan of the HBO Series Board Walk Empire you may recall a character named George Remus. He was a real person and ran things in this part of the country.
Most of my time is going to be spent at the tennis tourny, but I want to make time to see at least one historical site and at least one or two night drink in an area with multiple bars I can bounce around to a couple places. I prefer a 25 to 35 young professional scene. Not much time to do anything else really I figure just being there 3 days. Now that I have the area when I get boots on the ground I usually can ask and find the good places. Uber drivers usually fill me in too. Thanks for your help.

Cincinnati has tons of historical stuff as we’re known to be America’s first city (first city founded after the Revolutionary War by American citizens instead of European colonists). OTR is a great place to check multiple boxes if you only have a short time to sight see. Also the neighborhoods architecture is awesome especially Music Hall and Memorial Hall. Washington park is cool to checkout. Add in restaurants and bars and you’re set and these things are within a few block radius as is the underground tour. A few blocks north of there
Findlay Market is cool to checkout along with a couple breweries.
A little south into downtown (walkable or can take the streetcar)
Fountain Square is always popular. And of course
The Banks district between the stadiums is a popular place to eat and drink and leads right into the riverfront park which is highly recommended.
Other options would include the Mt Adams neighborhood just east of downtown that has popular restaurants and bars along with impressive views since it’s way up on a hill. This is also where you’ll find Eden Park with the
Cincinnati Art Museum and Krohn Conservatory.
Cross the river and checkout
Mainstrasse Village in Covington or
Newport on the Levee.

A couple other cool notes about George Remus - he was the inspiration for The Great Gatsby novel. There was also car chase through Eden Park (where the Krohn Conservatory and Cincinnati Art Museum is) that resulted in his exwife who stole millions from him being killed.
if you end up downtown, kitty's is a solid sports bar. it's on third. close-ish to the river. if you're into wings. motr is a totally decent rock bar on main in otr. serves food. and across the street from that is a renovated theatre *** rock n roll venue called woodward. indie music. if you like your coffee with a side of used books, iris is about a block down the street. schwartz point (if that place is still open) is an old school jazz lounge with an unbeatable facade. that's in the seedy part of otr. but not the seediest. the contemporary arts center is free and it's interesting enough. if you're interested in art, it's a closer option than the art museum if you're downtown/otr. i'd probably skip it. the neighborhood of pendleton is very european. destined to become the poshest hood in the midwest. or so i'm told. pendleton borders otr. if you're into hacky sacking, or tossing frisbee, go to washington park. don't visit mt adams. ride the streetcar. covington's dope

Kentucky - as usual - is behind the times and allows smoking in bars. Nice to know before you make plans.
I took the underground tour and found it enjoyable. Family told me the gangster tour in Newport is really good. Also heard good things about the Segway tours.
I only barhop one day a year - Opening Day - and I hang close to the area around the Aronoff: Igby’s, Righteous Room, Scene (which seems to have a more African American clientele), Arnold’s (oldest bar in the city), Madonna’s (cheap beer, kind of a dive), Knockback’s (awesome wings, lots of locals). All within a short walk of each other.
There are restaurants and bars on OTR but i’ve lost track of them. Plenty of places to eat but I can’t point out the best bars.
For young professionals, maybe Hyde Park/Oakley/Mt. Lookout Square?
There is pretty much nothing historical in Cincinnati, because very little history of any importance happened there.
Now, there is some old stuff.
