A long way from being picked 8th and 9th. Happy to see the respect being earned. Have to back it up this year.
If they get the quarterback position figured out, this team will win the league outright.

I believe it. And Wofford has a new coach, so I really doubt they’ll finish first either. These preseason rankings don’t really hold much weight with me.
ETSU will not be overlooked this year. Not saying we were taken for granted last year by any coaching staff. Their job is to prepare for each team but the level of intensity will be up for each opponent this year as ETSU is a reigning Champion. The Offense will be dynamic this year! Lots of talent returning and several great choices at QB. The offense doesn't have to improve much just limit the three and outs. That will free up the defense to play to its strengths. It's going to be another great year to watch the Bucs!

Wofford's new coach was in place last year when they beat us
It was a competitive league a year ago. The bottom teams played teams close week in, week out and if you'll remember The Citadel was tied at 13 with the Gumps at halftime. I still think our talent level at key positions is as good as Wofford and Furman. I hate to play the what if game, but damn if Logan Marchi had lived up to what he should've been, this year's squad would be unstoppable. I still think they simplify it a bit and get it done, get Holmes the ball in space, screens, inside hand offs/deception type plays as our offensive line SHOULD be able to execute in a manner that makes that possible. Give the starting qb a lot of one read looks, easy throws to build confidence up before getting into October football. I hope we get that win over Peay. That game for me is one of the most important ones on the schedule, especially if they do what I think they will this fall in the OVC.

Yes, you’re right. Thanks for correcting that. Hopefully we can get them when they come to Johnson City this year. Our line should be as good as any in this league and our defense should definitely be able to handle those guys. They shouldn’t run all over us like they have in the past.

Why even bring up Marchi's name? He shouldn't have been QB1. That was probably the biggest mistake Sanders made going into last season.

I don't disagree with that. Herink should've started the season as the starter, but you work Marchi into games when you can, and this year we would've had a returning veteran with PLENTY of in game experience at the FBS and FCS levels. Now we're starting back at square one with the most important position on the field. Oddly enough however, I think Sanders biggest mistake may have also galvanized that group so when Herink got his shot in that Furman game, something incredible happened. The key now truly is getting that figured out. Two all conference OL and an all conference running back. It's key they find a way to get the ball in their playmakers hands quickly. I'm just saying that had it hypothetically worked out with Logan, things this season would look way different.

I think the point that everyone is trying to make here is IF Logan had panned out as expectations, then he would be back quarterbacking this season. As it turned out it appears the coaches did a whale of a job recruiting two FBS transfers to come here. If at least one of these guys plays as expected, with the talent we have coming back, we could be a formidable FCS team this year.

I totally agree buckfan81 and Buccaneerlover
Don Helman discussing SoCon/Buc football this morning on the Monster!
I think were gonna have another great year! Can't wait.

My o my how far Bucs have came since that 2015 opener vs Kennesaw St. When teams came out for warmups it looked like men vs boys. I told my wife before game started we were gonna get thrashed. Now picked 3rd in SoCon preseason. Not bad at all.
We live close to the Stadium. Yesterday morning I went for a walk and ended up at the gates looking at the field and the stands...was so peaceful. I thought, the calm before the storm! Was a great feeling.
The Stats FCS top 25 is out today. ETSU is #26.
