Yuuuuggge!
This staff is killing it. Kid also made a fantastic decision to represent his hometown and create a legacy. Awesome news.
For those who are not in on recruitment, Jaheim is a 4* OLB from Princeton who picked us over LSU, Michigan State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, and Tennessee (all hats on the table). He also had offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, and many other P5s
Incredible! Awesome! Wunderbar! The recruitment under Coach Fick and Company has been stellar indeed. P5? No matter. Cincinnati football is attracting top local talent again. You can just feel our momentum continuing to build this year and beyond. Dayum! Just dayum!
Yeah baby!
Ka fuggin' boom!
What will the Thomas commit do to our 2020 recruiting ranking? Are we not at or near the top in the AAC or in all of the non-P5 now?

I love the guy just for picking us over stoneface Dantonio, the big blue, school 6, O$U and the overrated leprechauns.

Now if he turns out to be a great player too...

I think on rivals it moves us up to around 40 which is tops in AAC.
And now on to Paris Johnson!
Grandpa Flubs wouldnt have even tried for this kid.

Thanl you Coach Fick.

Never leave us!
A massive coup! Bastille, French Revolution type shat!!!

Quote:Jaheim Thomas committed to his hometown Cincinnati Bearcats today, in a massive coup for Luke Fickell.

Fickell, a longtime Ohio State assistant under both Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer, was hired in large part due to his local recruiting prowess. That paid off big time today.

Thomas’ commitment bumps Cincinnati up to No. 46 in the country in 247’s composite recruiting rankings. Cincy now has 14 players pledged.

Among the G5, only AAC foe Memphis has a higher-ranked class, at No. 42.

The 2020 product is Cincy’s first four-star player since tight end Leonard Taylor, another Ohioan, committed in the 2018 class. Cincinnati is the only G5 program to land a four or five-star player in this recruiting cycle so far.

Fick Is Hot

Building a program right before our eyes!!!!

"We're going to win big here and you're going to be proud of Cincinnati football. Our goal is to be the number one football program in all of the State of Ohio. You have to start building the foundation one block, one year at a time."
Just goes to show what a young, motivated guy can accomplish here at UC. I truly believe that Fickell is just working harder on these kids than those other programs. And Cincinnati is fertile grounds where you can reap a huge harvest if you put in the work.

Agree

And it will get easier because now the dominos are starting to fall. Going to UC to play for Coach Fick is becoming the new 'cool thing' and that will then turn into the 'norm' or 'expectation' around town.
Imagine if we start getting into and winning NY6 bowls.
I believe also you have to give Marcus Freeman(and the rest of the staff) a lot of credit. It definitely helps to have a young guy in a pivotal role on the coaching staff with mucho local ties. His presence comes up in many of these guys we're landing. He's a head coach in waiting. His relationship with Fickell from his playing days is the real deal. They work well together.

I think the phrase i was looking for is they have a "shared dynamic". It wasn't an accident when Fickell was hired that Freeman was on board almost immediately. They appear to have a special shared working philosophy.
Any chance UC flips Paris Johnson. Would be a killer for OSU.
Just wishful thinking but not sure any one thought UC would land Thomas
I love the "buzz" this creates.

I am sure that a lot of potential recruits study the "recruiting rankings." We are ahead of about a quarter of the P5 (though we would be near the bottom of the SEC.) That buzz can take on a life of it's own. We need to continue to separate ourselves from the rest of the G5.

Remembering the trials and tribulations of 30, 40, and 50 years ago, it is both refreshing and almost hard to believe. Go Cats!
