App State looked unbeatable against Middle Tennessee that night. They were just a couple plays away from beating Penn State.

Thanks guys. I'll answer your question about Drinkwitz's scheme vs Satterfield. There are going to be changes. He's an offensive mind who will put his stamp on things. Not to say there won't be some things that we did last year that were successful that won't continue to be used, but this will be a new scheme altogether. More pro concepts, more RPO.

Names you didn't mention to watch for:

1. RB Cam Peoples - stats were limited last year so he could stay under 4 games played to get a redshirt. But look at the YPC and go watch his run from the bowl game. This guy will be a huge part of the offense.

2. TE Henry Pearson - TE is not an issue behind Collin Reed. Devin Papenheim that you guys mentioned was mostly a non-factor and actually decided to forgo his senior season of eligibility since he already graduated. Henry Pearson is the real deal.

Appreciate the episode and good luck with the podcast!

Popped in on a few threads. Some interesting reads. Like most, I do think you'll be better this year. Spav was a great hire, in my opinion.

Nearly everyone over there is using the Troy game as a barometer for improvement as last season came to a close. That was a really bizarre game. Troy was without their Top 5 receivers (running the air raid), Top 2 running backs were severely banged up, a starting OL was out with an injury of some kind. Our Top QB was injured, out for the season a few games earlier. We didn't really have an offense left until the bowl game. OC Matt Moore was quoted saying they intentionally didn't run anything but a few base plays during the game, because there weren't enough healthy players to really run the offense. We played a Freshman All-American defensive back at slot receiver. We were nearly as banged up during the App State game. Had we been as healthy as they were I think we would have beaten them. But that's football. I'm not sure Chip Lindsey is going to be the next Neal Brown, but I think we'll handle Texas State. I do think Texas State will get 4 to 6 wins though. A nice improvement over last season.
I can't wait to prove everyone wrong this year. It's not just the Troy game we're looking at. We lost 5 games by 10 points or less. 4 of those were by less than a touchdown. That's with a terribly inept offense and an average defense. We return almost everyone, tied with UCLA for most returning starters in the nation at 19. With Spavital and Stitt leading the offense, I expect a massive improvement on that side of the ball. Heck, if we just stop running delayed QB draws out of our own end zone in shotgun formation, that would win us at least 2 games we lost from last season.

Not to mention we get most of our toss up games at home this year. Wyoming, Georgia State, Nicholls, ULM, USA, and Troy are all at home.

Also mentioned in the podcast, our 2017 recruiting class that ranked #1 in the Belt will be redshirt sophomores and juniors this year. This is the year we will really start to see some of their contributions.
Listening right now! You both believe Coastal's going to beat Georgia State and escape being the worst team in the East.02-13-banana

You're also predicting the Chants win three other games but 01-lauramac2 we will upset at least one Fun Belt squad this season... 04-cheers

Pulling for you guys to prove us wrong! Got a good coach there now for sure.

Hope you gave us a listen! We like Troy. Wish UAB and Troy still played every year too.

Lol I hope theyre right about our defense improving
I thought that was interesting too. Most people in our fan base seem to think our defense will either stay about the same or slightly regress. It's the offense that we're all looking at for improvement. It was the missing piece last season for sure. Had our offense been even a little better, we would have won 8 games last season.
