I'm on the UAB to AAC band wagon. To me ... It's a no brainer !!!
Facilities, fan support, market share ... On an on. I'm not sure if I would accept an invitation if I was UAB. Who knows where anyone is in a few years.
But I'm curious where the new football stadium is ... under construction, on hold, whatever ?? I think that place will be special and is your ticket to the AAC.
WHATS THE LATEST ??07-coffee3

Believe they break ground in July
UAB will come out of the tunnel at the new digs opening day 2021.

An ambitious timeline, but one they say they're still on.

There is an outsider on this thread who does not know that joseph is one of our most inarticulate and ill-informed posters.

What frightens me is that I knew exactly what he was saying
steves, site prep is underway and they start moving dirt in earnest soon. It's a $175m, 45k expandable to 55k stadium, with a lot of attention being paid to the fan experience. Highly wired, wifi, video screens both large and small all over the place, good seating and sightlines, luxury suites, the whole modern stadium experience. Bill Clark had substantive input into the design.

The cool plan is to be playing there in 2021.
I need a translator for that guy.
I hope you guys get an invite ... After what happened ... I'm 110% behind it. It may take a year or two ... But I think it could happen !! Great looking stadium !!

It's expandable to 75,000 according to the last release. I knew their egos would get it up into that range before all was said and done.
Well, if that's true is should shut down the "What about the Classic?" stuff.
I believe it will initially be 45K, expandable to 55K. Expanding to 75K seems to require additional construction.

Quote:Architects also said the design could allow for the stadium to be expanded to seat up to 75,000 in the future.

The $174 million stadium will sit between Top Golf and the Birmingham Sheraton hotel and seat about 45,000 people. Officials have previously said the stadium would seat about 55,000. At Wednesday’s meeting, BJCC CEO Tad Snider said the stadium should seat around 45,000, but added that the exact number of seats has not been completely finalized.

he should knot have done that
It might have been in this thread but Carraway may be attempting to open some businesses at their site in the next year or so thereby ruining our perfect location for tailgating & parking.

It will be interesting to see if that area can be developed again after tanking a few years ago after their pullout.
