Not a ton of info but good interview. He's the right guy. Much better than the last few ADs, imo. Touches on the AAC thing. I trust he is busy, working things on that front.

When I first saw this thread, I thought - Great, this should stir up some good conversation. Then I watched the video and realized - there was actually nothing said that we haven't been told a zillion times by every other AD we've had in the past. Bottom line is there is nothing to tell - our fate is in the hands of others to some degree.

Trust must be earned.
Patrick Magee's twitter includes a retweet:

"In case you were wondering, I filed a FOIA for any emails Southern Miss sent to the AAC OR AAC member institutions over the last month to see if anybody was politicking for a spot. School tells me they have no responsive documents."

That doesn’t really mean anything either way. At this stage, you have to think everybody would go out of their way to keep such discussions off the record.

If we’re serious about trying, Bennett should be making phone calls and having meetings instead of sending emails anyway.

I would be shocked if any contact was in writing (especially email). Patrick Magee is not the only one that's heard of the FOIA. Most of the University's admin don't have a personal server they can have someone smash to keep info from the fans.

With that said, our admin may know there is not a snowballs chance in hell and don't feel like being kicked in the nuts again. It begins to hurt after awhile. 03-nutkick03-nutkick03-nutkick
At this point I think I'd settle for Fantasy #2: actively working to get rid of Judy "Man Hands" McLeod.

And what an embarrassment it would be if it got out that our leaders had aspirations for bettering the institution that they represent.

I could have stated that differently - "I would be shocked if any initial contact was in writing". I do think if there was contact and feedback was positive, then there would be nothing wrong with letting it leak. Also, at this point they probably already have a good idea whether it could happen or not, and like I said if they already know there is not a snowballs chance it hell, they certainly would not make any inquiries in writing. Don't misunderstand - I would have loved it if our leaders made it clear years ago that they had aspirations for bettering the institution. But at this point, with the AAC group, sending an email would be pathetic if they already know there is no interest.

I reported to fall camp a couple of weeks early. I needed practice because I was starting to have hope again. 04-cheers
