Surely Bellarmine and Louisville will start playing annually. In town game, campuses 3.5 miles apart. It seems like a no brainer right? Let’s see if UofL will go for it. It would be great for the city and the fans.

Hope y’all start playing NKU again as well..... and WKU

Yes, Scotty stated at the press conference last week that UL, UK, Indiana and Notre Dame are schools he plans to try to schedule. The Louisville CJ followed up the next day with an article where UL coach Chris Mack acknowledged that they have talked but nothing is definite yet. Bellarmine has played an exhibition game against UL for the past 9 years. Mack is familiar with cross-town rivalries when he coached at Xavier and played cross town rival Cincinnati.

BU’s coach hosts a weekly sports talk show on local ESPN radio. He mentioned on that show that he has contacted his friend and former UL asst Mick Cronin, now coach at UCLA about a series. He said that for big games like that we would play at Freedom Hall, which seats about 20,000.

Former BU star Jake Thelan is now an asst with Tom Cream at Georgia and there has been buzz that a game there might develop.

It’s really early to expect anything definite but with Scotty’s contacts and local interest I expect some high profile games on the non-conference schedule out of the gate.
Wow, if y’all can pull off home games like that out of the gate, Scotty needs to give a clinic for the rest of the conference on scheduling.
Realistically, most of the initial big-name opponents will probably be road games. I do think the first D-I game at Knights Hall could very well be a familiar name (heck, even Louisville doing us a one-game "solid" by playing there is not totally out of the question).

The consensus is that Scotty's strong connections will be key here. Maybe we can get a home game against a big name if we agree to, say, three road games or some such.

P.S. Not schedule-related, and I'm not a drinker and couldn't care less, but I heard Scotty said that the idea of Knights Hall concession stand beer sales has been approved. Previously, I think one had to go to a booster/alumni room at halftime to "imbibe."
