Gotta love the #raisethebar hashtag UConn football is using. This could get better than the Civil conflict.

They are actually lowering the bar for football all the way to fcs.
are there any UCONN fb players to poach?

No they suck & their recruiting sucks too. That's why they're giving up. To be clear it's because they suck so bad.

Currently 126 in the nation (there are 130 FBS FBall schools) in recruiting. Last in the AAC (obviously) by a large margin. Bball alone r for small private schools. UConn just dug two feet deep into their grave and their fans, donors and alums don’t even know the possibilities that they just threw away. Sad really.
I really think they've just given up on football it's just that shutting down the program all at once would be a little too much. They'll experiment with Independence but unless something happens pretty quick the money problem won't allow them to continue. UConn is really a basketball school anyway... Good for them.

Are we saying UConn just invested a bunch of money in new facilities for the football program while heading down a path of independence for football??? Who is in charge over there? I just have a hard time believing the can make up the revenue divide in the NBE. The American received 25,623,896 from the CFP for the 17-18 season along with the new TV (7ish Million) deal, I feel like they will ultimately make less overall but maybe I am wrong. The American overall seems to be on the upswing as a conference as well. And while I get they have some rivalries with 4 or so institutions in the NBE half of them they have never played or barely played. Just not seeing the logic of the move. Now if they know they pretty easily schedule (Syracuse, Rutgers, Army, BC, UMass) each year with ease and they are all more regional than maybe they can get there. Just don't know how feasible it is.
An organization that's in some serious debt makes irrational decisions that lead to more debt. You can't make this stuff up. They'll be good though on the basketball side at least.
How do those lockers even work? Who sits like an uncomfortable airline seat at their locker?

I'm sure Kevin Mensah will be available at some point. He has a redshirt year and two years to play.

"welcome aboard UConn Airways. This is going to be a short flight, so we're going to keep everyone in their seats with the seatbelt fastened. Oxygen masks have been disabled for this flight as we no longer believe we can pass 10,000 feet of altitude."

They're actually pretty cool. All the storage is hidden. Fox College Football's official twitter page also likes them. Hmmmmm.....

That's what the donor wanted to spend his money on. The state didn't pay a dime for them.

So they can't sit on them while putting things in them. So there will still be tons of chairs all throughout the room.

I bet UConn will either be out of the football business or in the lower division by 2025. FBS football teams are expensive and there is no football conference, bowl, or college playoff money coming in. I suspect they'll sell themselves as whipping boys for P5 teams for a while and make money there. They have sunk so much money in the football they can't just dropped the program right now.

And yet, they just dropped the program!
