1969 Chicago Cubs have a 10 game lead on the New York Mets on August 8 or so. Regan pitches 121 innings in 71 games as a short reliever.

He was very good when fresh but with his wings clipped being so over worked he led the nosedive collapse letting the Amazing Mets clinch the National League to go on to beat the Baltimore Orioles.

Both teens were loaded. The O’s great Robinson brothers, Boog Powell, Davey Johnson, Paul Blair, Elrod Hendricks and who could forget Andy Etchenberan the hairiest Major Leaguer ever!

The Muts had TOM Seaver, Jerry Kooseman, Ed Swoboda, ED Kranepool, Al Weis, Dead Ed Charles, Gerry Grote, Nolan Ryan, Bud Harrelson, Cleon Jones, Art Shamsky and Donn Clendenon

The Orioles manager was Earl Weaver and the Mets had the former Brooklyn and LA Dodgrt great Walter Austin.

Robinsons weren't brothers, not even same race.

Manager of the Amazin' Mets was Gil Hodges. Walter Alston was still managing Dodgers then, never managed Mets.

Born in Otsego but grew up in Wayland, which was always listed as his hometown.

When I coached football at Grand Valley State he was baseball coach there.

Just checking to see who’s paying attention. Gold star is in the mail.

Robinson brothers was a joke for years, I saw that last night. Then I saw the Alston thing and started wondering what happened that we need to know about here.

All those hot summer day games at Wrigley Field wore Cubbies out as much as manager Leo Durocher did.
