UMKC is leaving the league to go to the Summit after next season.

Precarious position for the WAC to be one defection away from falling below the magic 8 number
The WAC now falls below the needed seven full DI members. Cal Baptist and Dixie St won’t count for several years.

Grand Canyon, NMSU, UTRGV, Chicago St, Seattle and Utah Valley are the only counters. Bakersfield is leaving. The WAC will only have two years to get back in good graces once UMKC leaves.

Bring in Sam Houston St, Lamar, maybe Incarnate Word and one other Southland fb school, get UTRGV to add fb, and get UCDavis, Cal Poly and Sac St and all fb to go FBS. Utah Valley, Seattle and Dixie St will leave for the Big Sky.
Why would anyone leave the Southland for less stability and more travel in the WAC?

Nothing will happen. The NCAA isn't going to do anything to the WAC. They don't want a bunch of homeless D1 independents.
See ya UMKC. Trash team with trash support. Now to kick out Chicago St and make this a real Western Conference.
I remember Augustana (South Dakota) announced they were interested in going D1, think they could be a possible target?

Wishful thinking again.

When the Summit lost ORU, they were non compliant for two years, which is the max allowed.

The situation was remedied when ORU was bribed back and the Summit was again in good graces.

Show me an article with a quote from someone associated with the Summit were "that situation was remedied" was discussed.

I'll wait.

ORU went back because the SLC went on a D2 shopping spree. If not they would probably still be there.

Those schools all want FBS and the Sun Belt won’t offer them.

The WAC can still grant FBS status.

The WAC will have dramatically less travel when this is finished..

The Summit didn’t have enough baseball or men’s soccer members to conform with NCAA regs, which requires two men’s team sports besides mbb for non fb conferences to have at least six members to keep a dance bid. Journalists that follow the Summit are too uninformed to read those, but would rather make then own made up rules. Read the NCAA regs yourself to educate yourself.

ORU wasn’t helped by the Summit, as it doesn’t add much to ORU’s enrollment or awareness.

Sam. Houston and Lamar have been very open in the past about wanting FBS, so the Southland was smart and got more D2 teams before those two left. Tarleton St is next in line for the Southland.
Nothing is going to happen to the WAC and the conference as a whole will continue to exist and not lose its post season access. Bank it.

Bigger question is how does this UMKC move to the slummit impact nodak's Great Northern Conference alignment moves?
Again, some me an article where someone from the Summit said they were going to lose their autobid for not being “compliant” and that Oral Roberts was bribed to take care of it. Should be easy to find. If not, go crawl back into your GNC hole and leave.

The WAC is way above their travel cost allowed, never mind that Augustana is a Lutheran college, and the upper Midwest is their prime student recruiting ground.

Take your uninformed opinion to the NCAA regs. The Summit only had five baseball teams and five member men’s soccer teams, causing both to be non-compliant. ORU bought them back into compliance.

Nothing will happen to the WAC’s bid because they were smart enough to have additions forthcoming.

UMKC to the Summit doesn’t do anything as it doesn’t have baseball, so when Purdue-Fort Wayne leaves as the school wants to, the Summit will be noncompliant even with UMKC. UMKC has no announced plans to add baseball.

The Summit needs to add football schools, as that would do away with the baseball and men’s soccer rules.

I'll go on a short limb and also say that the slummit will not lose their NCAA post season bids when they don't add a baseball playing member.

Because the Presidents of those leagues have been planing for years for shakeups of the WAC, Big Sky, Summit and Southland. All four league will have lesser footprints and stronger for each other members and most important, NCAA compliant.

Oh, so this is all part of the plan...mkay...
