So I have a friend who has been to every Sunbelt stadium/college town, he basically gave me the run down of every town, but I would like to know what y’all think. Myself and another friend would like to try to make one or two away games over the next few years to see who has the funnest college town (restaurant, barrooms, tailgate, etc.). What do y’all think is the best town for a good time in order. (Down worry Texas State I heard San Marcos was the bomb and to stay away from Jonesboro and Monroe like the plague).

1) San Marcos
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)
7)
8) Monroe
9) Jonesboro
Anyone who thinks Jonesboro sucks is an idiot.

Yea, I was actually kinda looking forward to going there but he said no body was drinking before the game not even the fraternities.

For some odd reason I don’t believe you, maybe if this came out of a Georgia Southern fans mouth, but not some one from App State.
LOL. We have skeeters. But the stadium is very nice and we will kick your ass so I recommend you go somewhere that you can watch your team win.

So are you trying to say that you’re scared to come to Lafayette cause that’s a give stAte will loose at our place?! But yea, with that second string coaching staff y’all have I’ll take my chances in Jonesboro this year.

People drink before the games. You just can have it out in the open.

Yea definitely a reason to have them on the lower end of the list, I’m not 14 anymore if I want to drink I don’t want to have to hide it.

Pouring it in a cup isn’t asking too much. Same as Oxford rules.

I went there on a recruiting trip. It’s sucks! Maybe it’s better now but it’s was horrible back then.

Because you went 30 years ago. It’s not even remotely the same place.

I'd put Mobile fairly high on that list.
I’d put Statesboro/Savannah pretty high on the list also. May be a little bias in that, but I’ve literally crawled back to my dorm at 3am after partying all night without the police stopping me.
Well if you’re looking for a legit gameday atmosphere, you can’t go wrong with either Troy, App, or GS.

I actually think our home opener against UL this season will be one of our better attended games. The tailgating lot starts filling with campers on Friday and people tailgate all day for the game. PM me two weeks prior and I may be able to find you club tickets in the drinking section (unlimited beer/wine during the game). There’s some fun bars and restaurants near the stadium including the spot of the original Zaxby’s. Though a lot of the bars are usually filled with college aged students.

Savannah is also a great place to go for out-of-towners. A lot of people stay in Savannah and just drive to Statesboro for the game (about a 40 minute drive). Savannah’s a very popular tourist destination with great restaurants and bars. There’s no open container laws so bar hopping with a drink in hand is encouraged. There’s also family-friendly activities too.
Pregame atmosphere in Lafayette is second to none in this conference. Some of the best people to hang out with and they never shy away from showing you a good time and forcing you to eat tons of great food.
1) Lafayette - You just can’t beat the people, the food, and the atmosphere outside the stadium. They just do it right. Best in the Sun Belt. You won’t find a bad meal in Lafayette.
2) Boone - Everything you could want in a college town. The people are wonderful. I love the layout of the campus. Beautiful drive up in the Fall.
3) Georgia Southern - Not for Statesboro, stay in Savannah. It’s a great city downtown. Statesboro is great on gameday. There’s a little hill overlooking the stadium that’s a great tailgate spot for $20. Hangout with the locals and have fun. I’ve had issues with their students in the past, but you can run into they anywhere.
4) San Marcos - Great City. Wonderful place to visit. Tailgating was almost non existent when I was there. Granted it was late in the season and they weren’t very good. I’m guessing it’s a rocking place when things go well.
5) Mobile - Downtown Mobile is always a good time. Inside the stadium is a good time as well. Getting there and getting in sucks. I’m guessing things will improve drastically when they get on campus. On your way home, if you’re nursing a hangover try Foosackly’s, you won’t regret it.
6) Jonesboro - Stay in Memphis. Memphis is s great time, but it is a little bit of a drive. Gameday there is just kind of there. Seems everyone just keeps to themselves.
7) Atlanta - Tailgating is minimal, but it’s Atlanta. You can find a good time and great food.
8) Monroe - Tailgating is ok. The Grove area is pretty neat. Waterfront Grill is excellent. Also found some good live music downtown.
9) Conway - Don’t make the mistake of thinking Conway and Myrtle Beach are the same. They are drastically different when you crossover that bridge. Myrtle Beach obviously has some great spots. Tailgating wasn’t bad, but most people seemed disinterested. However it was pretty cold there that day.

As for Troy there is some little known places that you will really enjoy if you’re in town. They also typical have a little block type party downtown on Friday nights. Anyone coming to Troy, just hit me up, we plenty of food and fun at our tailgates. Also a prime location to the gate.

Thank man, I appreciate it. If it one of the games that I’m able to make it too I’ll definitely message you on here.

You won't find many Georgia Southern fans ripping Boone.. great place to visit for the weekend in a cabin during the Fall.
if you're going to an ASU game stay in Downtown Memphis and drive an hour to Jonesboro...
