It's not for us yet, but the UofM used that ticket vendor (Paciolan) when I was working in Athletics, and I'd suspect they still do. Looks like a pilot for football season this year...

"Contactless tickets will be available starting in the fall 2019 football season for games at Baylor University, Louisiana State University, Michigan State University, University of Mississippi, Georgia Tech, and Rutgers University."

Lord, I hope the city of Memphis upgrades the scanners at the Liberty Bowl at some point.

I've only done this twice when a friend was in town, but I've bought an extra ticket online before where the seller sent a PDF of the ticket and they scanned without issue.
I work in professional sports and all our tickets are mobile entry only. All you have to do is add it to Apple wallet. Paper tickets and PDF printed tickets are going away.

I love how iPhone users act like the rest of the world has an iPhone too.

Mobile entry is for everyone.

The Grizzlies went totally mobile tix last season. It was a headache but I got used to it. It was really difficult when I wanted to sell my tix on StubHub since the NBA's official ticket partner is Ticketmaster. I was able to figure that out also. I miss the days of a traditional paper ticket you can just give to your family members or friends. I can only imagine the grief it would cause the downstairs 'blue hairs' at the FEF should they ever try to use it for basketball. Those people float the program. Better not rile them.
Honestly mobile ticketing takes a simple process and makes considerably more difficult.

I collect tickets, I totally get it. It was headache for our fans also, but mainly because it’s new. It takes getting used too.

It’s not going to change because that is where the industry is and will continue to be.

Seems to me this is a better system as it relates to being able to give your tickets to others who would not have time to pick them up. I’m assuming this system is set up so that tickets can be given away or sold via email or messages (along with Apple Pay or Pay Pay in the case of a sale).

If it's mobile only, how do those without a smart phone get in? Walk up to the ticket counter, I want in but I don't have one of those creepy mobile devices that everyone is addicted to nowadays. Are they going to turn you away for not being an addict? I doubt it. I bet they print you up some kind of square code (whatever they are called) to scan instead of using your phone. That's not "mobile only".

It won't be truly paperless until we either start using finger prints, or facial recognition for identification in everyday transactions. And that's still a good 10 years or so off.

True....we definitely don’t turn people away. There are exceptions.

You can transfer them but the easiest way is to take a screenshot and text them....for now.

Many scanners won’t recognize the screen shot. Not sure about the Tigers. I wouldn’t want to chance it without knowing.

I heard the same thing being said about the US Postal Service about thirty years ago. I guess some day it will all happen.

Ours do, but the industry is changing towards rotating QR codes.

It’s already here. Most professional sports team either do it or will soon be doing it.

Yeah as well as airlines and most everyone else that handles a lot of tickets. But I wouldn't call it "mobile only". Mobile friendly is more the appropriate term. Actually US customs and even some airlines are experimenting with facial recognition. After my last cruise, I walked back into the U.S. without talking to customs at all. I just walked through a facial recognition camera somewhere and I was good. Not even sure where it was. Pretty incredible. A few years from now that will be standard practice. Makes the finger print system they use now seem primitive. Even Delta has used facial recognition to eliminate ticket or mobile scanning while boarding some flights.

Yes they do.

Ticketmaster is rolling out the next generation of ticket scanning and screenshots won’t be allowed.

“The combination of new technologies is meant to cut down on ticket fraud.

Today, unscrupulous resellers take screenshots or photocopies of tickets that they then sell multiple times over to unsuspecting victims. Because the barcodes now automatically refresh, a saved photo won’t work.”
