Summer might show up if it ever stops raining around Ypsi.
CMU hit on the hire for baseball coach making it the to the Regionals, making baseball look fun, and winning a game will it be the same for football?? I think they still don't have a quarterback and will struggle.
Also if teams have to have weird games, plays coming out of the dug out, and other wacky "baseball" things then its probably not that fun of a sport and needs to be shorter..
Rob Murphy being at Juwan Howard's press conference is good because maybe we will get a buy game down Washtenaw Ave.
Our old head coach Milton Barnes is trying his luck against Emoni Bates by taking the Jackson High Boys Basketball Job.

Finally, The mid-week MACTION camp from what I was told went off great (avoided rain) and was very well run and smooth. Another kudos to our Football staff as some of those camps can be a shitshow
Dear Friends,
Central knocked out of the playoffs by Miami. Their pitching let them down in the elimination game. Miami scored eighteen runs.
O/T but Oats just got a former top recruit to transfer to Bama in Quinerly. He's had problems, but he could have value for them.

Never quite figured out that one Steve. Detroit has a serious problem with decrepit homes and abandoned commercial buildings, but they had to take down Tiger Stadium so soon? When they demolished it Corktown was hardly a "hot" neighborhood.. Not that I disagree, it probably needed to be demoed at some point, but why did it head to the top of list?

Nice!
Wonder if this means any other affiliations are soon to change?

Great news! Sounds like they got smart and realized a MAC team will sell more tickets than a mediocre ACC team. And im assuming the MAC helps keep the payout lower.

Now let's win a bunch of games and play in it!

Finally what MAC fans been waiting for.

I hope the MAC gets to send its champion there and make the game a real prize for the MAC champ.

Unless a MAC team was in contention for a New Year's bowl game, winning the MACC did not get the winner a prime bowl game. Now it could change.
NCAA moving the 3-point line again...

Among other things want to open up the court.

Actually some pretty interesting changes beyond just moving the 3-point line back. See here: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basket...-distance/

Other changes:

*To reset the shot clock reset to 20 seconds after a field goal attempt hits the rim and the offensive team rebounds the ball in the front court.

*The use of instant replay can be conducted if a basket interference or goaltending call has been made during the last two minutes of the second half or the last two minutes of any overtime

*The allowance for coaches to call live-ball timeouts in the last two minutes of the second half or of any overtime
I'm all for constant adjustments to improve the game. The current three point has been mastered and thus the beauty of fundamental basketball offense like the motion strategy and the backdoor cut has been thrown to the wayside in favor of the drive and kick to the three point line instead. Perhaps making the three a bit more difficult will change this.

I not really celebrating more replay though. I want the call to be right but these multiple delays to investigate flagrant fouls are getting out of hand. Also a long officials conference in the middle of a half to reset a shot clock 1.1 seconds seems absurd. I'm starting to get the feeling that the referees enjoy the TV exposure and as a result we get the multiple delays. NEWS FLASH to them and the MLB umpires, people don't come to or tune into the games to watch you.
As teams begin to reveal basketball schedules, we know for one that we will be playing at UNLV on December 28th

We didn't have a Monday Musings thread for the last Monday in June, the first half of 2019.

This isn't EMU related but does it portend what might happen when Bates becomes say a junior or senior in high school?

Sounds like OSU made a smart move... (P.S. that is Okla State, not be boys from Columbus).

Emoni's dad is a coach so I'll guess that colleges will be looking at the possibility of hiring him. That said, they are planning on the kid going straight to the NBA if the NBA rules change
Oakland U is spending money on various facilities including athletics.

P.S. it is nice to have $ (many):

"Since 2012, Oakland University has spent more than $418 million on new classroom buildings, parking structures, student housing, recreation facilities and beautification, such as its 151 foot-tall Elliott Tower in the center of campus. Most recently, A $40 million renovation of one of the university’s oldest classroom buildings, South Foundation Hall, was approved with $30 million to be contributed by the state.
NCAA is changing the transfer waiver rules (to avoid loopholes and abuses).
