One of many 3-seed wins over 2s as they come from behind to beat Miami (Florida) on opening day of the tournament.
Wow. I tuned in on ESPN3 to check the score and they were trailing what 3 - 1????

I assumed game over... Guess I was wrong. :)
Central was down 4-0 at one point. Man, the reaction of the Miami fans/alums on Twitter was absolutely delicious.

Huge opportunity for the guys today against Mississippi State. What I wouldn't give to be there.
Awesome, Chips!!!
Nice win!
Miami hurricane fans are generally obnoxious. Love seeing them sad!
Very nice win, Chips! Congratulations
Epic Applause
Miss. St. 7-2.

Chips will need a 3 game run now to advance.
Rematch with Canes at 3pm today.
Winner plays Miss. St. at 9:00 EDT. and if Miss. St. loses, they’ll play again Monday for the right to move to the Super Regionals next weekend.
Bulldogs threw their ace against us, and we couldn't do much against him.

Even if we beat Miami again today, it's hard to imagine our pitching staff (what's left of it) beating Mississippi State twice.
Well, fun time is over.

Still, what an amazing season. Such a fun team to watch, and winning a game in the NCAA tournament was awesome.
Great season Chips !!
A lot to be proud of ...
Okay, yeah, that didn't go so well. But it's always nice to not be the first team in your group out and get to play at least three games.
Old thread, but didn't want to create new one: Just noticed Akron is bringing baseball back.

Is the MAC enforcing its "full members must have baseball" policy? Where did Akron find the funding to bring it back?

$1m donation included in $1.7m in fund raising for $2m needed, with the major donation focused on fixing up the campus field, to be named after the $1m donor, "William Skeeles, the CEO of PointeNorth Insurance Group and a former UA baseball player"

Every spoke added to the Wagon Wheel is a good thing.

Akron's baseball program is going to rely heavily on booster donations and have few to no scholarships. What the boosters don't cover the University has said they will more than make up for by having ~35 extra individuals paying for tuition and room and board. We'll see how it actually plays out financially, but it's pretty certain the team is going to be terrible.
Very cool Akron baseball alumni stepping up.

Can't be much worse then WMU baseball.

Also, I get the MAC/MAC schools like the appeal of the College World Series, but baseball seems SO expensive, playing large chunks of the season in the South.

Yeah, it's a challenge getting booster funded endowed scholarships for a sport that a school does not have a history of success in, so a plan of relying on endowed scholarships tends to make the rich richer and the poor, poorer.

If they would push the CWS into the 4th of July, so that conference championships are still completed before the end of June and end of the official NCAA year, it could give two more weeks of playing at home for northern schools. That would not eliminate the southern advantage, but it would still be a big help. And the CWS can definitely be marketed as a "All American Hot Dogs and Apple Pie" kind of thing.
